I just love the scene in the hospital room - it's a wonderful little microcosm of fatherhood there; of course Dredd wants a boy! And the scene when he holds his daughter for the first time is great too - just a very sweet little thing here.

The closing line - his grunt being the way he says he loves her - is very much in character.

Overall, this is a good, fun little story - there are some lovely touches, and it is a classic example of the genre. I think the sex scenes (while VERY much part of this genre) are the weakest part; they always are in these things. We have a pleasant tale of mummy & daddy domesticity mingled with extreme sex scenes. Now, I understand completely where that comes from - both of these things (wall-shaking sex and pleasant domesticity) are things that people are eager to have and write about, but they are really different thing. It's not that the sex is out of place - of course adults in domestic bliss have sex (where else do babies come from?) - but rather that the "lemon" nature of the descriptions seems jarring. Anderson as narrator goes from describing domestic bliss to narrating "letters to Penthouse" in an instant. A useful trick with all of these first-person fics is to ask; who is she speaking to? And would the two parts fit together? Especially when the sex scenes have the greatest and most intense description, and everything is a little glossed over.

Still - that is the genre, a unique fanfic thing of "beautiful characters have wild, great sex and then get domestic and live happily ever after". And you have handled the genre very well indeed; this was a classic example of it and it was a fun read.

Another good chapter - again, this is very much in the mold of the old fanfics I remember; the domestic tranquility of two characters with exciting lives who nevertheless carve out a life for themselves. I wrote some of that myself back in the day (now, perhaps sadly, lost!)

The psychic dream is very cool - and I like the way she projects it to him. It's a great little touch.

I think that you have Dredd's personality certainly within the realm of what is reasonable - the first "hurdle" is that he isn't the kind to fall in love. But, if that is allowed, then this is the kind of man he would be in love - he is devoted, loyal, a good man. And if he had did fall in love, it is very likely he would rationalize it as "weakness" for that woman. Really, the weakness is reasonable - that would actually be another great story (Dredd falls in love - the weakness - but then decides he cannot be near her because it would be dangerous, so he goes away - keeping himself from the thing he is weak to). What he does here is be weak to Anderson (reasonable) and then decides either that he can't be strong enough to resist her, or that he doesn't want to resist her. It's all very much in keeping with the character with just minor tweaks - the fact he paints it as him being weak to her is a great touch.

The pregnancy is obviously where this domestic kind of story has to go, and I think you handle it very well - I do love the way she is angry at him, at herself, but that he is pretty cool about it. His line "never doubt the Dredd" is fun and made me smile.

Great stuff - as you have said, a bit AU, but it is a classic genre of fanfic and you handle it well.

I shall do a "review as I read" as they are fun, and this isn't some little drabble so it deserves something a bit more in depth. Alright - let's go!

I really like the little opening section - a lovely way of setting the scene, and is has a lovely "voice" to it. Anderson sounds vulnerable but with strengths, and the frank admission of how she ended up falling in lust (not love!) is stark but well done.

I like the scene with her tending to his wound - him starting to care for her, and the fact his care isn't to slushy or romantic (but more of a "good people shouldn't have to do bad jobs" thing).

The action sequence seems a little bit flat - I know you are concentrating on the emotion rather than the action, but it still rings a little hollow amid the rest of the writing. Anderson's reaction is extreme - but that is the genre, so it isn't an issue. And, of course, Dredd's own acceptance of her unprofessional compassion is a little OOC. But that is the nature of this kind of story - romances need to stretch the genre a bit, sometimes!

The scene in the hospital I like - Anderson's motives for closing the blinds are quickly revealed! Obviously, this is AU fun - but it is done very, very well. It reminds me a lot of fanfics I read back in the 1990s, before a lot of the "darker and edgier" tone came into play; just fun stuff where beautiful people hook up in ways the viewers want.

And the sex scene is so very much of that, too - really, it's kinda retro! I think it needs a solid edit - it does risk being a little bit "Ikea Erotica" rather than truly romantic or titilating; you need to decide what you want the sex scene to achieve and then write to that.

But I very much like the "weakness" motif you have running through here - that is very effective indeed.

Obviously, you aren't following the comic canon of Judges being celibate - or, maybe you are and Anderson has just broken regulations before. But I get the impression Judges here are allowed to have sex . . . but there is the suggestion, with her hiding the relationship behind armour and saying "we deserve it" it needs to be kept quiet, and that she is justifying it.

All in all, a very fun little read - like I said, it is retro and reminds me of a much older style of fanfic. Fun!
