Reviews for A Key Called Promise
AShallowGrave chapter 5 . 8/16/2018
Awww, this is so cute! might be my favorite chapter yet :)
purpleread chapter 8 . 11/19/2016
Cute! And Evans had some great yelling lines! :D It's nice to see a side of him that's not just a good-tempered observer. Also, lol, Rosier can grow thorns?
purpleread chapter 7 . 11/19/2016
Haha- nice chapter. A lot of emotions, and you do the feel of graduation very well! The fact that we're getting only pieces of their lives makes me nostalgic, like they're growing up so fast. :-) Also, Dan Carlin rules.
purpleread chapter 6 . 11/19/2016
Haha- I love the realtionship between Snape and Narcissa here, and Evan's newfound fear of peacocks.
purpleread chapter 5 . 11/15/2016
This was a fun chapter, if a bit confusing. (I'm not sure I entirely understood how the Maurauders were using the firsties). I did love the portrayal of adolescent Snape, and it was so fun to hear the Slytherins' (naturally negative) view of the Marauders.
purpleread chapter 4 . 11/15/2016
Great chapter! (I love the comment about "tutoring him was worse than letting him correct an essay, and no one had thought that was possible.") It's great to see bits of the Severus Snape we know coming out. :-) I also love your Narcissa! She's such an interesting figure in this.
purpleread chapter 3 . 11/15/2016
Great chapter, though I wish I could have heard at least a bit of the shouts Narcissa and Severus were exchanging. Love Evan's view of things, though- it's fun how he wants to draw everything, and the drawings on your AO3 are pretty fun too.
purpleread chapter 1 . 11/15/2016
This is a promising start- I like your Rosier, despite his utter AU-ness, I think this story looks like a lot of fun.
NatNicole chapter 5 . 5/16/2016
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take a look at my HP fic 'Harry & The Potter Universe'; yours is so well done, I'm really doubting my interpretation of Slytherin House (haven't gotten to Hogwarts i-story yet, though).
NatNicole chapter 3 . 5/16/2016
Seriously, my understanding of Slytherins is flying out the window right now.
NatNicole chapter 2 . 5/16/2016
Clearly, any knowledge I have of Slytherins is completely subbar...
LOVE the interactions!

Actually, someone mentioned 11 might be the age of consent & Lordship coz it's when the Magical folk start their education.
Also, Lockhart's a Ravenclaw. Though since this was not mentioned on-screen (i.e. in text), technically it doesn't fully count.
excessivelyperky chapter 8 . 3/20/2016
Rolls eyes, shrieks with laughter, and cries. Yes, that would be how Spike played Quidditch (though in the books James Potter is a Chaser, which in some ways would make things even worse for Gryffindor with Spike as Marauder-bait).

Now that Sev does know that he can call for time outs when he's hurt-well, he won't anyway. Except maybe for a broken leg, though I daresay he could probably fly halfway decently anyway.

So, Rosier is a real hedge wizard...Pomona would adopt him soooo fast if only she knew.

And no wonder Snape can invent spells; the juxtaposition of magic and Serious Science Fiction good at exploding the brain anyway might just do that.
excessivelyperky chapter 7 . 3/16/2016
Evans is beginning to um, really notice Severus as a possible partner, though after that massage that's no wonder.

But the airs above the ground/not caring about public opinion is going to end up doing Slytherin in. Snape is wise enough that playing Stupid Pureblood just makes it easier for Dumbles to demonize the whole House, and give the Marauders tacit permission to do Snape in if they can manage it. But alas, the other Slytherins are still quite happy to let Snape be point man, even though a public relationship between a Snake and a Lion is the very best thing for Slytherin, ever, in this parlous times. I thought Slyths were supposed to be intelligent, especially in the social/intrigue realm, but I'm sure not seeing it. (And given the equivocal position of Slytherin in Harry's time, I suspect Snape would have dearly loved to strangle Draco. Just sayin').

I also have feels for Reggie-anyone stuck with Gildylocks babysitting duties has my sincere condolences.

Another excellent chapter from the pov of a nearly totally oblivious Evan Rosier...
Tra8erse chapter 8 . 3/9/2016
I have been reading stories from this universe somewhat erratically, on and off, and haven't yet once left a review! Must redeem myself. I really like the way in which Severus's relationship with his Slytherin classmates is portrayed, as well as the Slytherin's Machiavellian dynamic with which our Snape has a difficult relationship. At certain points I thought that the turns of phrase are a bit convoluted, but, actually, this is fitting with the entire Slytherin-feel, where everything that is said and not said has multiple meanings. Enjoying this very much, and the shorter stories as well.
excessivelyperky chapter 6 . 3/8/2016
Falls over laughing-and yes, I am very surprised that nobody ever set up a still in canon, either—then again, you do have to wonder what is really in Dumbledore’s lemon drops. However, I can see Hagrid being helpful with an eye towards sampling the brew, at least. Spike ought to think really hard about brewing alcohol for his father; even a totally blind drunk Tobias is not likely to beat on the source of his booze (and any extra could be sold to after-hours shops).

I adore that letter to Lucius.
