You've captured Bobby in all his gruff majesty, and the shorthand dialogue and assured rhythms illustrate that Bobby's is the Winchesters' home away from Impala.

What I adore about Bobby - and you convey this - is his courage and wisdom in doing the rough work that needs doing (like getting Sam to talk about raising Lucifer), and how he affirms his boys without shining them on. Bobby keeps the faith with his "old crippled heart."

Ah, I really liked this one. Adding Bobby into the mix gave the group an interesting dynamic. It's nice to have someone they can rely on and who understands them and can see through everything they are and aren't saying. Really loved the descriptions in this one.

I'm late in reviewing, but I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this story! ... as well as your comment, "...if Dean doesn't shine in the stories where Sam's the one getting banged up, either I'm doing something wrong or we're watching different shows!" I totally agree. Your stories are so wonderful in large part because they do show the efforts and strengths of both 'boys'. They are so good because of the way they react to and with each other in each situation.

My favorite part of this story was, ""Sam?"
Dean's rusty voice from behind him made Bobby twist, then, cursing, actually roll his chair around to face the couch. "He's in the shower."
Dean's eyes were barely open, his awareness questionable. "…okay?"
Qell, besides watching his brother almost be gutted. "He's fine," Bobby reassured him. "Running on fumes, but we'll fix that."
Dean surprised him again with a soft snort. "…guilty."
He wasn't as adept at translating Winchester shorthand as another Winchester would be, but Bobby figured he got the drift."

I really love these little snapshot tags you write, where what's actually happened isn't as important as what's going on underneath. This was a nice little character study of all three of the guys at that particular moment in the series.

Perfect! Awesome hurt!Dean and wornout!angsty!Sam with some awesome Bobby thrown in as a bonus. Love it!

Wonderful story! I love seeing the boys from Bobby's point of view. I do miss him in the show; always thought he added a dimension to the stories. I loved Bobby's musings about the events and action/reactions of his "boys" to each other. That last line about keeping the faith alive so they could help each other was really wonderful. I think it sums Bobby up quite well.

Love the title, because these guys really are just that! I suspect that Webster might have a picture of Sam and Dean next to the definition of that word. And now with the deaths of Ellen and Jo, the guilt of starting the apocalypse, things are even worse for them.

Enjoyed the story very much as always. I thought everyone who read your stories knew that you loved the boys equally. There's just no pleasing some people. :( Thanks again for sharing this with us. Until next time...

You're the last person I'd ever think to like one brother over the other (not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm more of a Dean girl myself but love them both). It's so evident in your stories that you give them both a fair chance to shine, be funny, caring & take care of the other brother while still keeping to their own characteristics which we enjoy watching on the show.

I loved how you went back to two of your "older" fics, the missing scenes & tags for 5.10 - read them both again just to be reminded :)) this was a great little glimpse into Bobby as a father figure, taking care of his "sons" even when he's down. Boy do I miss him! & Sam finding strength to hold Dean up after the hellhound attack took me to season's 8 "Trial & Error". For they always carry each other through, no matter what life throws at them, right?
