this seems a lot like the begining of How to Train Your Dragon. Part of me wonders if it will have some of the same situations happen, or if you meant to title it How to Train Your Viking. I also have to wonder how Hiccup's feelings toward Asterid will fit into this story. I hope that you update again soon.

Rrrr. A common theme in this kind of story is that Toothless gets shot down and is hurt, then Hiccup has to stay while he heals.
There is a reason Night Furies were the most dangerous kind of dragon. If Merida had shot at him, I doubt she would have hit.
Of course, that can be attributed to Hiccup's poor driving. Still though, he's a dragon! Those wings are large enough that simply spreading them would put them into a glide! A single arrow? Not going to do much.

However, this kind of story IS SO DARN INTERESTING that I have to keep reading. Also, there aren't many other ways for the two to meet, are there?

Very cute! I like this a lot so far. I like the addition of the idea that their respective clans(if "clans" is the proper word to use here) have been fighting, and I hope that you'll use it to add dimension to the plot as this story goes on- of course, the story has just started, so I suppose it's hard to say-but so far, very nice, and I hope you post more chapters soon! : )
