Reviews for Son, Unknown

Sooooo good!'!
SnowflakesandMozart chapter 1 . 7/11/2016
Very nicely crafted character piece. Vader becomes a sympathetic character in your hands as he pieces together the mystery of the pilot's identity. His immediate reaction to the name Skywalker, thinking his spy had discovered his former identity, is right in character. I appreciate the irony that he finally reveals that identity to her to explain why he is killing her. He isn't a pleasant man and yet he does become sympathetic, as I said.

I LOVE YOUR WRITING SO MUCH I AM A NEW AND VERY ENTHUSIASTIC FAN :)
Velgamidragon chapter 1 . 12/10/2014
Despite what you say in the Author's note at the beginning about how this contradicts Vader's learning of his son from the Emperor, it doesn't. Vader already had the name "Skywalker" and was after him at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back when they were all on Hoth. The transmission from the Emperor in the middle must have meant that the Emperor had only recently learned of the name "Luke Skywalker".

Anyway, I really like this story; it's well-written, fills in that particular gap in the movie canon, and is exactly what I was looking for and hoping to read. Thank you.

You've really done a great job giving us a glimpse of Vader's mind in this piece and in "Daughter, Unacknowledged". This is really beautiful, thanks!
froovygirl chapter 1 . 7/6/2013
I'm a big fan of Ani/Padme and curse the prequels for not fleshing out a more substantial relationship, so I love the references to her and the flashback was awesome.

Again, you have an uncanny knack for selecting the most effective words to convey your exact meaning to a phrase. Your verses flow effortlessly to both tell a story and leave an emotional impact. Really, really great writing here.

I've really enjoyed reading these two one-shots, so thank you!

Wow...
This is a very good idea of how Vader had found out about his son.
Hoplite39 chapter 1 . 4/5/2013
Yes, I could see this event happening. Vader's reflections seem authentic and realistic.

I don to think that the story contradicts the conversation with the Emperor. It just puts a different perspective on it. It basically means that Vader feigned ignorance which is highly conceivable.

I think that Vader always suspected that both Luke and especially Leia were linked to him and caused him to hesitate in their regard, even if it was a subconscious reaction. The fact that Vader sought to delay Leia's termination and let them escape the Death Star may have been more for personal reasons rather than a tactical ploy, although at the time Vader would not admit such weakness.
greenschist chapter 1 . 4/3/2013
Realistic and surprisingly touching. I think you did a great job exploring "Vader, the Father" while still being true to "Vader, the Sith." I can easily imagine a scene like this really happening in canon. Well done.
becgate chapter 1 . 4/2/2013
Wow! Amazing! Well done! Especially Vader 's interaction with the spy. I think this could fit within canon.
Nerdlee chapter 1 . 4/2/2013
Startlingly touching and entirely unique. I truly enjoyed this perspective.

Jedi Master Misty Sman-Esay chapter 1 . 4/2/2013
I like how you had Vader reminisce about his old life.

wow great oneshot!
Treenahasthaal chapter 1 . 4/2/2013
I really enjoyed this. Lovely imagery and internal rationalisation. I felt sorry for the spy though...

I have always been of the opinion that Vader knew about before the Emperor (in the revamped version of ESB). Remember originally the the Emperor did say the bot about Luke being the son of Anakin and Vader didn't as the silly question of "How is that possible?"

I have always been of the opinion that Vader traced back the report they got on the Death Star about the Millennium Falcon blasting out of Mos Eisley - after all that's where Obi-Wan had been. He would discovered Owen and Beru's deaths (unless you accept that he ordered them killed) and that they had a nephew called Luke SKywalker who was currently missing. And he has his son's name and possible image. Not difficult to put the blond boy and the Force presence above the Death Star together. :)
