Oh, haha, MJ, I love this AU meeting! Maeve is as bold and sassy as ever, and Sinbad - as always - doesn't stand a chance. I also love how you added Doubar's canon line of it being bad luck to bring a woman on board to this.

Awwww, MJ, this is such an amazing chapter! It touches on so many things and still manages to end on a happy note. Indeed, back then marriage meant that a woman was pretty much giving up on everything - on any chance to be free. So I can really see where an independent spirit like Maeve is coming from. And I was startled at first that Sinbad would want her to fulfil that role, even when we all know he'd never treat her as a lesser being. But then it all became clear, and it totally made sense then. Sinbad doesn't want Maeve to be his wife as tradition demands it. He wants commitment. And Maeve is happy to give that to him.

Really, the end is so very them. Thanks for this awesome chapter!

D'awww, and haaahaha, and d'awwwww again. This is so cute and funny, and cute! I really love how non-romantic this little shot is, and at the same time it's so utterly lovely because it seems so real - so very possible.
Of course Sinbad planned for big vows of love and whatnotelse, but when do such things ever go as planned anyway? The guys throwing a party and Maeve and Sinbad just enjoying theirselves is pretty realistic, and I actually love how they just so slip back into being easy around each other.
Also, of course I really appreciate that Bryn and Maeve get along well right from the start, and to add Mala to this all... aw, what a lovely move!

Hah, yeah, indeed, that was quite weird. But entertaining, too! Actually, I highly enjoyed this read! As always, you never cease to amaze me with your creativity and this was definitely something that I am pretty sure has not EVER been present in the fandom before. And really, what an utterly lovely idea is that - to think that DimDim hid Maeve where he knew she would be the safest? Close to Sinbad's heart. That's just so awww (if we leave out the rather gross part of her being stored away somewhere in between lymph nodes and blood vessels and the lungs and... I'll just shut up now, yeah? xP). And tragic actually. Because considering how much he hurt because of her loss, and all the time he's carried her within... Oh, those two clearly have a LOT to talk about now! xD

By the heavens, this is easily the scariest and, in a way, also saddest piece that you have written so far (next to "The Void"). The mere mental image of a Maeve who's been cheating death for a good year appearing like *this* in front of Rumina... that truly is a nightmarish picture and something I am glad neither of her loved ones had to see.

At the same time, it's so incredibly sad, knowing the Lass dedicated not only her life but also her afterlife (sort of anyway) to freeing her brother. And while I can imagine she found peace at the end, it still seems to me like a life unlived. And in this regard I also pity Dermott. It must've been hell for him watching her forsake every chance at happiness, risking her own well being for him. You know, when I read what you had Dermott tell Sinbad - that he didn't even mind being a hawk, that it was way worse for him knowing his sister was so focused on her mission than it would have been to remain a bird till the end of his days... for a moment I thought that Maeve was kinda selfish there. I know, I know, one would usually argue that she's the exact opposite, not thinking of herself while she is dedicated to free her brother. But your little story here rather gives me the impression that she selfishly chases the witch just because she feels she ought to, or because she has set her mind on it, paying no intention to what Dermott actually wants. And with this she hurts those who love her more than she would ever know. It's what makes this little story so very sad.

I'm much astounded about Lea though (albeit I had a feeling it might be her) - not so much about her presence (because it would appear logical that beneath the surface he still was kinda haunted by her) but more about the fact that she did indeed never even bother to tell him she was still alive. I mean, I can understand her parents didn't much want her to hang around with Sinbad anymore, and I do also understand that her "betrothal" to him wasn't of any real meaning to her, yet they were friends and as such it's a little sad she never let him know.
Anyway. It's a great thing that she's still alive in this, and that thus Sinbad can finally let the past be bygone. :D

Aw, and how nice that Bryn and Maeve got along well right from the start. I really like such scenarios. :D

It's great how you deal with his 'feelings' towards the sea - how he first almost hated it (btw.: what a lovely move to personalize it!) and then, much to his surprise, found he could even love it. And then it betrays him and he wants revenge of some sort. And how that changes once more when Mala saves him. :D Indeed, to him she would not be what we see in her, instead she would be the sea to him. A good spirit, and I love so much the image you drew - of him dancing with the seas. Really. It's a brilliant little piece imo and I'm so happy to see it be up on FFN.

This certainly is one of my absolute favourites. :D
