I really like that Vanitas is developing emotions beyond disdain for the trio, especially for the kids. Seeing him struggle with those new unfamiliar emotions is interesting, revealing, and a little sad too. It makes him feel like a far more deeper character actually. And it brings up some curious subjects that are worth exploring, like how despite being the darker and more sinister part of the same person, he's also independent of the darkness that he is ...And seems to desire to have a connection just as much as anybody else because he's also human. And the lost part of Ventus

I'm finding a LOT of potential in Vanitas being an incredibly tragic and tortured character. Maybe not within this story necessarily, but in genersl. His crusade to be whole is actually kind of devastating, if you think of Vanitas as more then just an evily fueled creature but a person trying to regain what he lost... I'm really falling in love with how complex he's being written in this story. I hadn't really payed much attention to him before but now... gosh. I love your version of Vanitas a lot.

Oh my gosh these last few chapters... my heart went out to Terra, all I wanted to do was hug him close. Xehanort is garbage and deserves to have kneecaps snapped then nailed to the wheels of a tractor trodding through a field of acid and manure.

It was interesting seeing how Vanittas really is the chaotic neutral party here. Flipping sides to his liking. It's awesome getting to see him interfere on behalf of the others, and actually working together to help his other half was really interesting to see. And speaking of Ventus? WOW. That was incredible. It took some real guts facing the master head on like that. The sheer amount of defiance and ferocity and care for his friends really astounded me. I really hope that when Aqua and Terra turn back to normal they also retain some of these memories because I feel like he's just done so much for them. It would be really sad if he were the only one between the three who ended up remembering powerful and life-defining moments as these.

And gosh, Eraqus... I did say he would be a wonderful father but I knew that his black-and-white outlook on darkness was the catalyst in creating the wedge between him and those he loved in the first place. I was angry with him too... I started to understand how significant him seeing the wooden keyblade and teddy bear was going to be in this chapter as Ventus mentioned it. Vanitas is pretty smart, and clearly keeps notes on his observations. Eraqus had to choose whether to be a KeyBlade Master, or be a father... and reading the part about how Terra's teddy bear was a comfort for him during a time he was struggling with abandonment broke my heart because it was almost about to happen again. The end made me cry nice ;-;

I am really tempted to take you up on that challenge, or just draw anything depicting this story's moments in general... Actually, this entire time I've kept imagining Aqua and Terra looking a lot like the young versions in one of Charlie Co's animations called "Million Lanterns" which reenacts a famous scene between Simba and Mufasa from Lion King. Really recommend you finding them on tumblr (which they call themselves chachaCharlieco on there) or Youtube if you haven't seen their amazing work already.

I cannot get enough of these two. Terra's out bursts about his evil plan at dinner and Aqua's pipping fixation about his baldness was too good hahaha. Poor Eraqus is getting the heat without really realizing the extent of it ahhhh. I loved their exclamations so much at the end but this line really melted my heart this chapter:
'On one hand, she didn't think this was a good idea, but on the other hand, she really did . . . Besides, Terra was here. He would protect her.'
Their pure unadulterated friendship and love for eachother is too much for me when they're barely tall enough to reach the countertop TvT

My my... looks like Vanitas does have a soft spot after all. It was really great seeing the Master also think about how much Ven has undertaken since the accident. Ven is such a sweetheart, thinking about sneaking into his friends' room later despite their grounding haha. I love how he's handled it too, it feels like this is exactly how he would. He's taken on a big brother role but he's still got that awkward teen silliness that makes him feel like Ventus, even when he's being serious. Flailing and blubbering at times but also remaining reliably steadfast for his two companions. It's just so sweet and awsome. He's so great with kids!

And I firmly agree with you, Eraqus would of been a terrific father :)

I loved the beach chapters, and was really happy to see Sora and Riku again, this time also interacting with Ventus and Vanitas. I kinda felt pity for Vanitas, surprisingly too. Loved it when Terra and Aqua tried to kidnap one of his unversed. And I love Terra's logic too in this chapter. How he gets jealous of Ven and thinks about what would drive Vanitas mad haha. That last part where they made the promise just squeezed me on the inside. It was a little sad but also sweet. Lol, and same Terraqua actually my favorite ship. I love that your weaseling little hints of it in here, in the most genuine and innocent way haha

Ok I see that this has gotten closer to the point where the main plot begins to unfold. I am both glad and full of glee that Terra is a reduced munchkin right now and is so young he can't understand how dire Xehanort's plan to use him as a meat puppet is. He's so immune,l because he's not old enough to get it or keep an attention soan for more then 2 seconds. Ironic. Outdone by an adorable tot. And Xehanort is still just an old fart.

Goodness I am really liking Vanitas. Is it possible that he's surprisingly not that bad with children either, albeit in a twisted and mischevious way? Must be something in Ven's own handling of children that runs in his own veins. I like how he acts like he can hurt them but still manages to just remain this mischevious entity that is (currently) not out to actually harm anyone. And how he uses the children to totment his master hahaha. Yes, this is a good Vanitas-Xehanort relationship. I approve

That's it. I love Vanitas. Your Vanitas is top dog in my book. I'm not all that crazy about him in the games but oh my lord. Too many lines involving him that I liked in this chapter. I can never stop laughing at his sheer audacity and currently neutral chaos. Man's a real rogue. He completely catches Ven off guard more then once too haha. Oh, I do pity Ven. Dearly

Ok that last chapter before this one? I loved it. It felt like a character-building backstory for Terra. I couldn't help thinking of how the things he was experiencing in his child form during that storm was a testament to how much he had grown and overcome. The Bravery of a young man in contrast to the terror of a small child yet to conquer those fears. I swear, I can vividly imagine the imagery with your storytelling. Eraqus' flashbacks felt so palpable, imagining a seven year-old Terra gaining his blade at such a young age while running for his life in a similar dark storm. It was beautiful, seeing Eraqus comfort Terra like a father again too. Gave me lots of warmth reading that. Lol awwwww, so does that mean Ven has a fear of thunderstorms in this story? Leave the poor guy alone, you. Aqua's a darling for bringing it up at the end haha. But I imagine that this could be one of the same things that would allow Terra and Ventus to further bridge that brotherly kind of bond over too.

And oh my God. This chapter, again, I laughed a lot! I actually reeeally really like how you've written Xahanort and Vanitas, especially with how they act with eachother. Your poking fun at the fact Nomura called him an 80 year old man huh? Haha. I like that he's getting some well deserved jabs and and seeing him having to restrain himself in front of his friend because he. can't. lay. a. finger. on. them. HA!
Vanitas' relationship with him is interesting. He's more aloof and a lot less respectful and unwilling to just comply with Xehanort's orders. That last bit with Ventus made my heart twinge a bit ahhhh! And nah don't worry, it wasn't a bother trying to imagine Vanitas without his normal edgy look at all. God knows he'd still be wearing all black lol. Like the metal punk maniac that he is.

OMYGOSH THIS LINE:
'"Yes," Xehanort said in a monotone that clearly stated he was imagining running Terra through with his keyblade.'

Oh boy. It looks like Eraqus and Ventus are finally realizing that Aqua and Terra are forgetting who they were. Can't wait to see how it plays out.
Terra's and Eraqus' heart-to-heart... oh my heart. It's bruised. It was a beautiful Father-son interaction and I love the idea of Terra growing up with Eraqus but I don't want to think of kid Terra in that kind of pain, he doesn't deserve it ;-;.

Lol, so many good lines in this one. Loved it when Aqua looked at Ventus after being told to stop only to try beating him in the shins again haha. These two are a couple of troublemakers huh? Hahaha. Makes me wonder how the Master ever managed to raise them without ripping all his hair out. Guess that might explain why Xehanort's a bald old coot with only half an apprentice loool. Oof. Poor Ventus, he's getting the raw end of this deal. I love how clever they are and how much turmoil they put him through. And he's so sweet, he's just practically begging them to be take advantage of him haha

Favorite line in this chapt.:
'He'd seen that many times the first time they were at this age; they were probably wearing each other's socks or something.'
Kids really think they're so mischevious sometimes and it's the cutest thing. Aqua and Terra are natural born conspiracists XD

Omygosh this chapter... I felt so many things. Pure surprise and joy that Sora and Riku were introduced in the beginning and that Aqua and Terra actually got to interact with them. All of them were so so cute, and tho I'm not a crossdressing fan, the entire exchange of how Sora ended up in the dress was priceless. Aqua suggesting warpaint out of the make-up hahaha! And it was coupled so well as it bounced off of Ven's segments in trying to find them. Omygosh my poor baby! I could litterally imagine the distress and utter relief of him finally getting it back. Omygosh I want this so much. This au is so beautiful and I want to keep seeing them all together like this, t. This is such a precious au

Omygooooooosh this chapter made me laugh so hard hahaha! The entire drawing session, the delivery, Vanitas taping the letter to his wall. All of it gold.
I've really loved all the chapters so far. The last one with Terra being a brat and then having doubts hurt my heart bad. And the one before that with Aqua's little fridge-climbing adventure reminded me so much of my childhood hehe. Also the chapter where Terra and Aqua can't use their keyblades and and Ventus tries to make it up to them and he gets enveloped in their smol child-sized hugs,, , oh gosh that was so heartwarming! Made me smile a lot.

This was my favorite line in this chaoter:
'Terra then decided to put his two cents in. "Master, I'm hungry."'
I'm not even sure why I laughed so much, probably because it makes it sound like Terra actually had something very important to say.

I love how your thinking about these two in terms of mentality. They know better because they know what it was like being adults but their child-like minds aren't developed at their current age and the wiles of the mind's imagination jumps out at them despite logic. It was so cute seeing the two make a pact haha. It's too funny seeing their adult logic mix with their child logic and having them end up in curious situations haha

This fic is so adorable, I love imagining what these two would look like as kids! They are very very cute in my mind. I love how Terra is in hardcore denial XD. And the way him and Ven interact is really funny too? Just seeing Terra act like the little brother is so amusing because it also doesn't exactly make Ven seem any more responsible. He ruffled her haaaaiir ahhhhhh! God, Aqua is so cute. I love all of their interactions so much. They seem so serious even toward eachother in the game, but here they feel like they belong in a slice-of-life scenario. Even Master Eraques kills me. Loooool, oml Terra's comment omygoooosh! "I'm handsome, not cute!" That made me laugh out loud, imagining a small Terra actually saying that in indigent realization XD. Aqua's reaction to his ailment was also so priceless
