Ok for Bella to go from being rightfully angry and afraid of what Edward's presence at this moment is to suddenly getting all hot and bothered with him...ok. Get it, the man is hotter than hot but geez, let's get the elephant in the room be dealt with before the hormones are freed. Edward has every right to be this angry. Should he get away with being so forceful, no and I admire Charlie for putting a stop to it best he could.

Bella's backstory about how this went down indicates she practically admits her choices were based mostly on spite. She knew her admitting to the investigators would ruin and shatter Edward's career and yet she did that. Sure she was young but that goes to character and her character was flawed to begin with and there you have it...Can she and should she be redeemed? Sure I think I'd like to see this character grow and develop but as of right now it's hard to feel she was justified with her choices about running and hiding Jacob from those that needed to know he existed. Plain and simple, she took Edward's rights away from him and no matter how you look at it, that's wrong (he wasn't abusive or a criminal or even a bad person, she didn't know his reasoning, didn't give him a chance to defend his actions...) So I'm so pissed on Bella. I want to be mad at the Cullens and sure they could have offered the girl some support but really they owed her nothing, at the time they didn't know she was pregnant all they knew was the lies she allowed. And ten years is a long time to not come out with the truth, she was weak. Let's see her do the right thing now, for her son at least.

Back when all this happened, Bella was, I'm guessing a teenager having an affair with an older married man, ok. We can then say she was perhaps a minor (I don't know yet if she was of age or not yet) so we can't put all the fault on her. Edward was the adult and I'm sure he knows he should have had more adult self control...having said all that, at this point, getting to know how this Bella handled things and continues to handle things, I have to fault her her choices. I don't want to be judgmental about this character but she's wrong in so many ways in the most basic way. We can admire her for keeping the child but that's about it. Everyone, her parents included, enabled her to keeping the fact that she was carrying another man's child in secret from him, that's all sorts of wrong. But here she is making more major bad choices. She goes and talks to Mike first, before going to the Cullens? Really? She should not have brought her son with her to care for her father if she wasn't going to be an adult and deal with the truth for if no one else's advantage than but for her son's. I want to say Bella, you deserve the shitstorm you've created but those around her do not, Jacob, her dying father and certainly not Edward and the Cullens. I want to sympathize with her but I just can't.

I feel so sad that this little family has been so apart because of avoiding the truth. Jacob is a wonderful little boy trying to figure all this out and now he's going to have to bond with a grandfather, then watch him in the process of dying along with the broken parts of him caused by not having the truth about who his father is and that his mother kept that from him too...Poor little guy is going to have to grow up real fast it seems.

It's not enough that the last chapter has Bella admitting the it was her selfishness that's created a horrible hurt for not only her son but for Edward more importantly and also the Cullens cheated out of being family to a grandson and nephew they knew nothing about and of course there's Charlie who got cheated out of a daughter and grandson and if not for his cancer and Bella being forced now to come forward with her choice to manipulate everyone's life because she made a bad choice to run away and not be truthful. I think her doing this to Edward, not letting him know he fathered a child is equally as bad as anyone taking a child from their mother. I guess I'm upset with this Bella.

I can see there's a lot of drama from the past and seems like a big miscommunication between them all. As I said, I can't remember the details of what's to come but from this re read sounds like Edward supposedly fathered "two" girls as Alice talks of Irina's baby being still born and Edward coming back for Bella...oh the web of lies and what they create. On top of all that past sadness now they have to deal with Charlie's impending death. And I hate that Bella was outside Charlie's home smoking while he is upstairs dying of cancer.

It's clear, after Bella meets up with Mike, that she doesn't want to deal with her past there. Mike was awfully nice, at least he seemed like a straight up good guy so I'm glad Bella at least accepted his offer of coffee and the chance to become friends again once she comes back from Florida as she cares for her dad. Dr. Cullen being the doctor who answered Bella's call for help was awkward but at least she didn't let that stand in the way of getting her dad help.

I know I've read this in the first go round. And I do remember the main premise as indicated here in chapter one that Bella goes home after being away for ten years and it's because Charlie is dying. I don't remember much about the rest of the secrets specifically but I'm assuming it has something to do with Bella's son Jacob being Edward's child, one that she never told him about for reasons that were complicated. I remember it being sad, so I'll buckle up for this second go round. What occurred to me this time reading is what a shame that it took Charlie's pending death for Bella to reunite with her dad. She obviously loves him but has been apart because of Edward and her...whatever...and I hate that it's taken this for Bella to connect with her dad. He's missed ten years of her life and his grandsons life because of whatever happened back then. Glad you are reposting, and I'm sure my second reading will be a satisfying one.

Amazing story, I felt it deep in my heart. 2.5 years ago I lost my partner to pancreatic cancer, I cried the entire time the Chief fought for his life, I cried for Bella's grief and you brought the smile back into my heart with how they had their HEA ️
