I'm totally unsure whether the boy Jack sees in his dream is nightlight or his winter spirit self.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jack's transformation was complete by the beginning of spring.

Now I wonder if the wind blew accidentally or ... Jack already has minor powers that only show when he has his staff.

I think the part when Patch introduced himself was awesome.

rereading the past chapters for the first time since i was goddamn 14, im just comprehending that jack and nightlight are the same person and it is literally like. THE BEST THING. i remember not even knowing there was a book series, and i actually found out about nightlight through this fanfic. i understand vaguely that nightlight is... an emo version of movie jack frost, and absolutely dig it

pitch being like "oh moon man what did you do", when he realises jack is having dreams of nightlight (being? nightlight?) IS JUST AMAZING. i dont even fully know if jack was memory wiped by the moon into forgetting he used to be nightlight, but the intrigue is so well done. your research notes on the era jackson would've been in, wow, that is a lot, so dedicated, can't wait for the next chapter. amazing

Yo was so happy to see this updated after soo long. I've got no real idea abiut whats going on but I've kinda of gotta a gut feeling where it's going, though no idea how will end lol. Favorite scene was definitely Jack and Pitch at the end, especially Jacks refusal to acknowledge his more unhealthy emotions. Can't wait to see how both Jacks powers and his relationship with Pitch will develop. Also glad you're feeling better, to be honest alot of my mates have come out of insolation being in a better space than when they went it. Anyway looking forward to future updates.

I really like this, but it's been a while since I have read this story. I will have to go back and see just when Jack's anger and hostility towards Thomas came from. It took me by surprise for a bit. I could understand not wanting the type of change Thomas would bring if he were to marry the mother, but to react like that, especially considering Jack's character, was interesting. Anyway, I feel nothing but dread for Jack especially with the scrutiny and rumors some of the towns people spread about him. I hope nothing affects him or his family. At some point, I can't help but feel like some of the towns people think it would have been better for Jack to die just because of their suspicions. It will be interesting to see what Pitch teaches him.

As always, amazingly beautiful. While I have not read any of the Guardian books yet, your story has not left me confused at all. In fact, you have only fed my curiosity and eagerness for the next update. The amount of detail you put in to remain relevant to the time period of Jack's life, and the care you put in to your characters is admirable. Keep writing and updating!

I'm so glad you've decided to continue with this story. To this day, it is still one of my favorites. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss, and I am so glad that you incorporated your feelings into this chapter because I could really feel every moment of Pitch, Jack, and Ezra's pain. I lost my grandmother a few months ago, so I connected to this chapter very deeply. I absolutely loved the pirate story Jack's father told him and how Jack recreated it for Ezra. Jack's spot-on retelling of Pitch's past seems to be too much of a coincidence, and Pitch's last sentence there makes me wonder if MiM is somehow influencing/guiding Jack. Beautiful, well-written chapter as always; I love your writing style and how you nail the slang of the time so well that it almost feels like this is a professional novel. Can't wait to see where you take it from here!

Jack's dad quoting scripture, and then Jack quoting one right back. I love it! I did that to my parents all the time. Granted, my parents never laughed like Jack's did. They just gave me 'the look' and I knew when to shut up. On a side note, this was really sad once we got to his father's death. And Pitch was just so creepy in this scene, but you have to admire how he twists a situation into his favor.
