Reviews for The True Heir
charmedfan120 chapter 1 . 11/22/2019
This is one of the best fanfics, I have ever read. I still think to this very day Wyatt was one of the worse parts of Charmed execution and power-wise. Excalibur never should have gone to him. I love your reasoning behind Chris being the true heir

LC03 chapter 1 . 3/27/2016
Those are all good points, and I love this story as much as anybody but have you ever given the idea that what Mordant said wasn't true, that Merlin was real. Wouldn't it be even better for Chris to be the reincarnation of Merlin to his brother's Arthur. Especially if you are using the BBC Merlin characters. Because Merlin is the most powerful character and the one that I think suits Chris the best, much like how that Arthur I could see in Wyatt to an extent. Its just an idea that I had, seeing the similarities in the characters.

Although I was also disappointed in the Merlin series how they didn't expand on Chris' character more, and that was a bit of a let down for the rest of the series for me.

Love this!
OurUnsungHeroes42344 chapter 1 . 12/3/2014
Really good, I love it! Chris should get Excaliber, then maybe he wouldn't feel so darn inferior. Wyatt’s always getting more when technically Chris should be more powerful in theory. Elder whitelightereldest Charmed One or whitelightereldest Z Charmed One.
Guest chapter 1 . 9/13/2014
Hey just going to warn you, the first three chapters of this other fic are almost exactly like the beginning of this fic, so either they copied you or you copied them, it doesn't matter I just don't want to see your fic getting taken down.

I love it
Angelicat2 chapter 1 . 8/13/2014
Great! I loved this story because I love stories where Chris uses Excalibur. He doesn't have enough powers! I also like when he is half-elder even though Elders are only a higher level of whitelighter(really dumb because they have lightning power!) You'd think they were a different species or something.

Good story
Lisse chapter 1 . 1/2/2014
I've always thought that Excalibur was meant for Chris. And because I'm a law student, I have to present the evidence:

In the episode, Piper's corrupted by the sword because the sword corrupts and adds to the corruption of those who are not meant to wield it. Two episodes later, we see corrupted Wyatt. Gee. WHAT. A. COINCIDENCE.

In the episode, Mordaunt says that the heir to the sword is the son of a Charmed One. He then says that he has to kill said son before he takes possession...and he runs Piper through the the stomach with Excalibur. Now, why wouldn't he just kill Wyatt if he's the son meant to wield the sword? Why go after the mother to kill the son?

The sword actively moves towards Piper. But it never moves towards Wyatt even though Wyatt is in the room being held by Leo when the sword moves towards Piper. It should move towards the rightful heir but it didn't.

Wyatt never pulls the sword out magically or physically. People just assume it belongs to him because the family assumes it belongs to him and because he used it to kill Mordaunt. They're all forgetting that they also assumed it belonged to Piper too and that wasn't true, either. So, there's already precedence for the assumptions of the family to be wrong.

Other than Used Karma, the episode after Chris drops his bombshell about Wyatt being evil, this is the only episode of the entire season that Chris was absent from. This is circumstantial, flimsy evidence, but it adds up when combined with the other evidence.

Wyatt is never shown with the sword as an adult other than in Leo's hallucination brought on by Barbas.

Hell, the fact that everyone thought the sword belonged to Wyatt even though it was NEVER said by Mordaunt, and it really belonging to Chris, the more ordinary son, would fit so freaking perfectly with most variations of the Arthur legend. I mean, they all assumed that the sword belonged to Wyatt because he was the only son of a Charmed one there and because he used the sword (not pulled it out, not touched it, just telekinetically used it) to kill Mordaunt, but as viewers, we know that there is another son coming that they don't know about.

Assumptions are dangerous and I absolutely believe that everyone assumed that the sword belonged to Wyatt, and he COULD wield it being super magical and all, but I think in the bad future, getting the sword after Piper died accelerated his corruption. I don't think it was wholly responsible, but it definitely didn't help.

Lastly, this comes from my knowledge of Arthurian mythology, but the whole freaking point of Arthur is that people didn't expect him to pull the sword from the stone. Arthur isn't anyone special magically. His lineage is royal, but he's fairly ordinary, other than his personality. Morgaine is magical. Merlin is magical. But Arthur is a visionary who makes something great: Camelot, a utopia of sorts, a better world (ahem Phoebe telling Chris goodbye and saying "that peaceful world you helped create" in 6x22)

According to lore, only a pure heart can wield Excalibur and not be corrupted. It's not meant to go to the one who's got the most magic. If it did, Morgaine or Merlin would've held it. It's meant to go to someone who can hold and not be corrupted by it. Think Frodo and Sam taking the ring in LOTR and Sam, ordinary Sam's, courage and heart and bravery in not being tempted by the ring.

That's who the sword belongs to. Not to a guy who was called twice blessed at birth, was made a God Stu by the powers the show gave him, was shown to be very corrupted by power in two instances (the future and in Imaginary Friends) and who seemingly can shift to evil just like that. Giving Wyatt Excalibur goes against the point of Arthur's story tbqh. But Chris who despite how easy it would be join his brother and his girlfriend (Bianca's change of heart happened after she met Chris but before she was likely working as an assassin for Wyatt), fought to make a better future and despite all the traumas he faced (death of his mother, neglect of his father, likely death of his aunts, the death of his girlfriend, his brother trying to kill him) still tried to make the world better, not worse. He never gave in to the misery and said "Eff it. These people aren't listening to me. I'm going back to the future and joining my brother" even though that would have been easy. That's an Arthur archetype.
MidnightRosebud chapter 1 . 9/8/2013
So well-written, and a very lovely twist on the story as well! It does kind of make one wonder if your version of events isn't all too far from the truth as it makes a boat-load of sense. It also would have made for a very interesting story during the season. We'd even have the family have more time to bond then the short bit they received before Gideon ruined it all. But I suppose that's life, right? And the reason we can enjoy fanfiction so much. :)

Thank you for sharing this with us! I hope you continue to write more.
