What a great story. The most amazing thing a writer can do in my opinion is to make a reader fall in love with a place. Falling in love with people is easy enough, but to fall in love with a place needs writers skills. I must admit I was in love with Guernsey before reading your story. If you like it and really wish to fall for it I can only recommend 'The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society'. It is a letter novel about a young woman who tries to find the fate of another woman after she disappeared from the island during the second world war. During her search she falls in love with Guernsey and its people. It's light and slightly melancholic to read, it touched my heart.
Sometimes you put in too much information, as for example the fact about the good bus service system on Guernsey. I think you wrote that three times. Also the info about Teddy's illness was a bit long and confusing for someone who doesn't know any medical procedures.
Still the story was insightful and lovely to read.
