Reviews for Dreaming Electric

Love this story. I love how damaged Tony was, but how you still made him just as strong and loving (even though he hides it from other people). I liked how Steve panicked about Tony being almost dead and I liked your version of Extremis because it is exactly what Movieverse Tony would want.
Crystalzap chapter 3 . 7/15/2015
lol this is great! I love Extremis Tony, and you did his and everyone's character so well! The only thing I wanted to see more of is the drama/emotion, yes I know Tony doesn't tend to show a lot of the emotions he doesn't want others to see but he Could.

Anyway really brilliantly done.
Guest chapter 3 . 1/7/2015
This story was awesome! I'm generally not a fan of Extremis Tony, but this story worked :) really well done!
Just Another Hell Raiser chapter 3 . 11/20/2014
How does this not have more reviews? I love this story.

Few people are capable of capturing Tony Stark's character. I mean I think it says something that ROBERT DOWNEY JR portrayed him; he is not a straightforward character. Tony's personality has no formula. Nonetheless, you have succeeded. All the witty comments, the ways in which he changed the subject, it was perfect. Your portrayal of Tony made me wish this was the second Avengers movie.

And thank you for not making anything about Tony and Steve's relationship overt or over-the-top. The way you got them together could've happened in the actual storyline, it was so perfect.

Your standard of writing is fantastic, the plot was complex and gripping, and the little things you added in here and there to add depth make me wanna go back and read it again. Like the way Tony always says "I'm fine," automatically, and by the end of the story he catches himself and admits that he's not.

Lastly, the humor was absolutely fantastic. You kept it in character, but Tony's a funny guy, and some parts of the Avengers movie left me in stitches. You succeeded in recreating that special brand of humor Tony's got, and having me in stitches just like before.

I loved it, I have nothing bad to say. Great work. This story deserves more reviews than it has.

What a captivating, engaging story. I loved the characterizations, the interactions, the drama, the tech ... pretty much everything. Thank you for sharing the wonderful story.

An interesting, and most certainly provocative, combination of comic lore and movie verse. Good Job and Good Luck in your future works!
SarahKnight chapter 3 . 4/1/2014
I have been trying to figure out why this story is so compelling, as there is no big threat to overcome or anything big like that plot-wise. I've come to the conclusion that it's the way you've written it, and the characters, their slowly developing friendships, shown not just their interactions but through small touches like the poster Tony puts up in Steve's apartment, the fact Steve keeps hanging out in the kitchen. Such a sloooow burn, nothing concrete about sexuality until something like 25000 words in and it was still indirect and made complete sense, not jarring at all because it put across why it hadn't been mentioned previously and why it was being mentioned now, all whilst seeming totally natural. And I think the fact you've made such subtle character plots so compelling really shows some skill.

Your writing style is excellent, it reminds me of the snappy pace and humorous tone of Tony Stark's dialogue in the films, and you keep it up consistently throughout, with pretty much every line ranging from good to awesome. Excellent combination of serious, thoughtful themes and story with witty (but not OTT funny) language.

The dialogue was also great - the characters don't say exactly what they mean (except Steve sometimes, which seems in-character) but it's still clear how they feel (far superior to them actually *saying* how they feel), often there's more than one conversation going on at once, there's realistic contradiction (like Tony arguing different viewpoints about Fury's use of Coulson's cards). Jarvis was particularly fantastic - just as good, maybe even better, than the films, with the comedy, but all the character voices were great.

On the topic of 'showing' not 'telling', you do it beautifully. Like the two moments where Tony thinks 'no one else needs to know'. Lovely.

"Experience points out that those two clauses may be mutually exclusive."; "…That's refreshingly straightforward"; "he'd also shaken hands with Justin Hammer" and so many other good lines. LOL.

Only suggestion for improvement is that I wasn't too keen on the dream sequence or the stuff in Mallen's brain - being taken out of the 'reality' of the story is less interesting than the reality. Plus I would've preferred it ending with something more chaste, but I know that's just personal preference and the porn-epilogue is a popular fanfic convention, so fair enough - the excellent dialogue got me through it anyway. Also, one typo: Tthis.

However, just in case I haven't already put this across, and even though I don't actually do Tony/Steve, this story is AMAZING. You need to write some original fiction and get an agent (literary, not SHIELD). Or just keep writing fanfic for fun. Whichever. :)

This fic almost hard for me to catch up at every sci-fi part. But the rest, I can reach It... huff

Read this fic make me couldn't think the others thing, consciously or not, I am concentrating at reading this fic. Because it's Sci-fi! And it's so rare for me to read sci-fi fiction!

Actually I didn't even realised that this fic has Sci-Fi genre, until I read chapter 2... *peace*

Anyway... This fic is Great!
The relationshio between Tony and Steve was nice! That's why I kind of surprised with the ending...

Kirara-Elfkin chapter 1 . 1/23/2013
Very good, there really aren't enough fics dealing with extremis, though looking at the trailer for Ironman 3 I'm guessing it'll feature quite prominently.
slumberingscribe chapter 1 . 1/10/2013
Awesome story. Loved the start and middle especially. Not so hot on the end, but whatever. I'm thinking you probably should have put this into a few chapters, but that doesn't really matter. It might just make it easier to remember where you're up to if you have to go away in the middle of reading it. (Like I did. Bad idea. Seriously, it was VERY hard to find where I was up to)
