The ending only makes this worse.

It is the realization that the Government CLAIMED they "Could Not Fund it", when in reality, they could, and all they had to do, was wait ONE MORE MONTH.

I say that, because it makes no Sense for the Government to "Run out of Money", unless that was the OFFICAL statement, and in reality, they were unable to Coast on the SAO Media Fame and Just Stopped Pretending to Care about Saving the People trapped in Aincrad.

I also know that in that story, there's no way for the Government to pay the price for effectively taking advantage of other's suffering to boost their rep and fundings

And that's the real Tragedy.

A most excellent depiction of Suguha, though I was expecting Kirito to wake in the end. The euthenasia and its outcome was too tragic for me.
I did like the interaction between Sugu and Asuna.
Excellently written. Would you ever consider a version of this where there is no euthenasia, but now Sugu and her family have to deal with a very different boy than they knew?

THIS! This is what I always pictured Suguha, how the original arc set her up. The AOL arc was abominable.
