Reviews for Hogwarts' Muggle
Nightmare Prince chapter 61 . 9/18
Hullo xD

Aaah, the Yule Ball. Rather odd for a school to not have school dances and the like often and only have them once every decade or so when they host the tournament, but honestly, what can you do, eh?

One trick hippogriff, lol xD The entire discussion over dancing is quite funny, because it’s painfully clear what Albus is implying from the get-go, but Snape doesn’t or refuses to get it. The horror! Teaching the snakes to dance! Interestingly, I feel that the Slytherins would be the least in need of dance lessons given how many of them are old-money purebloods who probably did Cotillian lessons or something similar. They could probably be the ones to teach Snape if he was so inclined.

Fawkes also bursts into flames as one does when one is a phoenix, and Albus rudely has Severus do the clean-up. Strange that he doesn’t offer the ashes to Snape for potions use given I imagine it has some magical uses and that it can’t be very common, and it makes sense to not just toss rare ingredients into the thrash. Slughorn would have nicked it to sell on the black market like he usually does.

We get into some real comedy afterwards as Snape teaches himself to dance by dancing…on his own after spying on Minerva, which I suppose is one way to go about things. I suppose it is better than learning to dance from a book, which would be all kinds of nonsensical. He then marches off to teach the kids, and despite being the oldest of snooty old money, Pansy does not know where to put her hands on her partner. Overall, it is a fun scene, and we do get to see Draco gulp a bit because of Pansy being Pansy (and that she isn’t Hermione)

We get a hint of sadness here when Snape says he’s never had a birthday, so you know that Albus is gonna be planning a surprise party now. It’ll have all Snape’s friends hiding behind a couch to jump out and say surprise! So…Albus and Brie and Evan and Minerva and possibly Lucius. Most of those are stretching things in terms of friendship, but it wouldn’t be a party if Albus and Brie were the only ones to show up.

Minerva is then roped into creating a magical garden, and she blackmails Snape into helping, so they can be gardening buddies. I do like this little friendship they’re forming; it’s often difficult to remember that she was his teacher as well and that Snape isn’t actually all that old. He then rather rudely makes fun of Moody for being a paraplegic which I disapprove off; asshole or not, that is too far, Sev.

And he gets a present from Lucius. How nice. Maybe Lucy will show up to the birthday party anyway and bring Narcissa and Bellatrix.

[entrie event] - I suppose you mean [entire event]

[Flich] – [Filch]

Aaah, some more sweet shippiness with Brie and Snape, but daw, she has no way of sending him presents. She really should’ve taken her owl. Or else gotten Snape’s home address in Spinner’s End to send him letters. I always find it odd that the Americans say [happy Christmas] since the rest of the world is all about [Merry Christmas] but then again, the Americans are an odd lot.

Overall, a very nice chapter. When does the next come out
Nightmare Prince chapter 60 . 9/18
Hullo xD

We take a long break from Snape and his shenanigans to tune in with Brie, who has to deal with the utter lunatic that is Skippy. Given that he’s young and inexperienced, you would think that he’d appreciate having someone like Brie to show him the ropes, but noooo, he’s got to be a Skippy and think he knows it all. Also, dear god, just dismissing it as “the dead husband thing” is just crass. God, he’s such a brat.

I hope they go to Africa and he gets eaten by a lion.

Also I like the height of petty that Brie is at right now. Skippy basically has “Bitch Eating Crackers” syndrome right now and no matter what he does, it annoys her. His cigarettes are stupid, his drink is stupid, hell, if he was munching on some crackers it would annoy her.

She talks about Hollywood and the star worship for a bit, and you really see her age and maturity in that whole thing. The youth would be much less opposed to being hounded by fans, but she just wants to go out for bread and milk. That’s it. Skippy also has not learned that Australia is the land where things go to die because everything wants to kill you.

Terrible. Literally terrible.

Anyway, just as she finds some aspects about Hollywood to like she ends up run into by someone or other and they make her uncomfortable. I suppose she’s like Steve Irwin, just not at his fame level.

And then Skippy tries to pull rank but Brie can’t be arsed. Sure, there’s contract disputes and legal nonsense than can come for this, but there’s no show without her, so they can’t cut her loose either. Time for Skippy to learn what happens when you’re new in town and try to take on the snake charmer

Overall, a very nice chapter, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing Skippy eaten by something in Australia. Maybe a crocodile.

Hullo xD

I do enjoy the opening bit here. You really do get it across how thoroughly done with it all Snape is. It is also interesting that he notices that something is up with Moody. It’s just a feeling, of course, but it does work on a certain level, and the payoff line being about Albus just being Albus – seriously, this man needs to not run a school filled with children – really works for it. Snape just outright announcing he’s avoiding someone also works; it’s sort of a deadpan delivery that just suits his character and comes across as quite funny, especially when he’s bouncing dialogue with Minerva, who is a veteran snarker.

Talk swiftly turns to Bree and Snape is quite good at pretending he isn’t having smexy dreams about her and turning into a fluffy marshmallow, but then before we can appreciate the amusement here, Minerva hones in on the deeper topic. That Minerva taught Snape is quite a good point to bring up since it’s often glossed over, but she really has been at the school for a long time (Fantastic Beasts liked having her around so much they had her teaching there 50 years before she was even born)

The rest of the chapter does sort of slip into a bit of plot recap, which I suppose is unavoidable given the scope of Goblet of Fire and the fact that Snape really does not have all that much to do until things start occurring. We do get some interesting exchanges with Karkaroff and Dumbles, and Snape’s inner monologue keeps things from becoming boring because he’s quite the entertaining narrator – his commentary is wonderfully droll.

Overall, this did feel a little like a bridging chapter and it did feel a bit tell-rather-than-show towards the end, but I do think it came together quite nicely. The new bits were solid, and as mentioned above, the commentary from Snape kept things fresh and amusing. He really is a snarkmaster xD

I already see the situation where brie has to shoot the doc in Africa with a tattoo which says : I don't want to go to Africa. Making the documentary awkward

Nightmare Prince chapter 58 . 5/16
Hullo xD

So, I have come here today, most excited to see the new update, and it does not disappoint.

Right off the bat, we meet the man pulling the strings of Brie’s operation, and he’s a bloody dick and a half, isn’t he? I think you get that cold corporate vibe right, and it’s really very obvious he doesn’t really give much of a shit about Jill. He just cares about releasing the next film or two and he wants Brie to go out and do her thing, never mind her own circumstances. Even his condolences and “thoughts and prayers” ring hollow.

Oh, and we’ll be getting into his nephew in due time. That we will. Little wet behind the ears wanker. Ain’t even that cute.

I honestly feel that the getting to pick the director is a bit of a double-edged sword here. Brie has been neglecting her obligations, and while I empathise with her, the fact remains that if she picked up from the offered pile, she wouldn’t have been saddled with Skippy.

We get a letter from Remus, which is very nice, in my opinion. I wish he’d sent back an address so she could have written back, but as I recall, he does tend to move around a lot, so that can’t be a standard thing. Also, there’s plenty of bills to pay, so we’re going to have to see where they cough up the cash from. I like the run-on of thoughts Brie has as she sort of goes through the motions after reading the letter, especially her comparisons between Remus and Severus. It works, and getting a look into her mindset here really gives her point of view on the whole ordeal.

Also, damn, she doesn’t even have an address for Minerva? Say it isn’t so. They need to be penpals at once!

Jill really isn’t going that well, is she? I expect her to drop in one of the next few episodes, so that’s going to be a feelsy chapter to look forward too. Of course, there can be no heartfelt moments, because the Wolf of Wall Street has shown up ready to blow down the house if they don’t come out.

And here we meet Skippy. Fuck Skippy. Skippy is everything wrong with the media industry, a little shit who got in because he’s related to the right people as opposed to having actual talent. Skippy can go get fucked by a weed hacker. I hope he does die on the next expedition. Yes Brie, go off and tell him! Bite his head off! Finish Him!
Overall, a very solid chapter, in my opinion, that progresses the plot along nicely and introduces us to our next arc – I do hope we get to see Brie chewing Skippy up throughout their whole expedition.
Nightmare Prince chapter 57 . 5/11
Hullo xD

So I finally got a bit of time to breathe (it’s midnight xD) and decided to hit you with a double feature, and then I saw that I was all caught up. So, even before getting into this chapter, I must insist that there be another. I simply must, Madame xD

So, we leave Brie for this chapter to come and visit with Sev instead, and this takes place around the famous Ferret Incident. Honestly, I’m Team Draco on this one, even if he was being a bit of a whiny prat. You can’t just turn people into ferrets!

I also like that Lucius is being depicted first as a father, and second as the usual Lucius. It rings very true to the Malfoys. They’re not the best people in the world, but they’re very big on family, and they do genuinely care about each other. His venting to Severus is a very humanizing moment, and it does also lead Severus into seeing him in a new light, which might bode a few things for the eventual return of Lord Noseless. It’s also a nice reminder that Snape can be very vindictive when he wants to be – makes me wonder if he ever actually used Sectumsempra on the Maurauders.

The flashback is interesting, especially since we know this is actually Barty and not the real Moody, so who knows what’s going through that Mad bastard’s head as he talks to Snape. This carries over into the final scene wherein Moody commits some good ol’ breaking and entering. He tries to intimidate Snape, who is having absolutely none of his shit, and then he’s sent packing. Poor Sev, he really needs a certain spunky snake charmer to show back up and keep him company, especially what with the lunacy of this year just getting started.

Overall, a very strong chapter. And update, lady, please.

Nightmare Prince chapter 56 . 4/20
Hullo xD It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it. (Last review by me was in 2016? Whole ass children have been born and gone to college and had their own babies since then.)

Right off the bat, I would recommend a touch of formatting to keep some separation between the AN, the title, and the body. As it is, it all just mashes together a bit. Ffnet isn’t the most format friendly, so maybe line breaks?

I find the entire opening scene to be a nice breather, in a way, because our resident ball buster has some deep emotions she needs to process, and it’s quite heavy. To be honest, it’s really heavy, and that can bring a scene down, especially when we consider Jill’s condition on top of that. However, interjecting the salesman selling them the scarves and the hammy Italian accent on top of that… it’s just very nice to soften the blow, in a way.

Lol, Evan enjoys being manhandled. Hmm hmm. I sense a kink in there that’s just resurfaced. Fetch the ball gag!

The shoes bit was very wholesome, and it had very That’s What Friends Are For vibes that I quite enjoy. Overall, I really liked the way it came across, and I found it very wholesome. Seriously, these are your last days, Jill, better live them to their fullest.

But all days must come to an end, and the nights are dark and filled with terrors. Poor Brie, but I’m glad she’s processing. Yes, it definitely was the kiss. Sure, it could have been the dementors, but it sort of also was the kiss throwing her into all sorts of emotional whirlwinds. Lucky her, indeed. It must be worse because she can’t actively see Dementors since she’s a Muggle, so all she knows is that they’re there and making her feel like crap. I do hope she manages to seek help from her magical comrades. This is still fourth year, right? Albus is still going to be around for some time.

Overall, I think this was quite a nice chapter, and I look forward to seeing her inevitable return.
