Wow, I really enjoyed this! I usually hate this sort of thing; I have never been a "dress up" kind of girl, but this was really cool! Prepare for a lengthy review.
First off, I feel for you, Vanessa. I hate being forced to try on clothes (especially dresses) for my mom. And as for the colour issue, Vanessa and I hAve similar complexions, and as an art student, I know what she's going through. She should avoid yellow and really light oranges/peaches, but darker/brighter or cooler tones and hues will look nice. The whole hating pink and sparkles was great as well. I have been told that I look good in pink and I utterly hate it! This reminds me of trying on costumes for our musical a couple of weeks ago (set in the 1930's oddly enough) and the fashions then definitely made for someone with a figure like hers! You have talent, keep writing! Btw, I really hope you have not abandoned "On the Edge of an Unspoiled Universe".
