"I could use the killing curse on an animal I intend to eat, and I'd still get a life sentence for it" is not true. The life sentence only applies if Harry uses it on another Being (Humans or creatures with human-like or greater intelligence). As for the life sentence, it's actually worse than that. If a user of an Unforgivable Curse on another human is convicted, they are sentenced to life in the nearest Supermax prison (a prison that consists entirely of solitary confinement cells). What this means is, although Harry can't use any of the curses on someone like Elder Toguro, who is a human-turned-demon, and thus a Being, he could use them on the Lesser Demons or in situations that are strictly defined by their own rules as "anything goes". He can even use them in areas or situations where that tricky law simply doesn't exist.

I love this story and occasionally reread it. I wanted to let you know that this chapter is one of the reasons why; with Harry doing the common sense thing and calling ahead for the testing requirements and what would be involved afterward.

Too bad Harry didn't introduce the YYH gang to his full Wizarding Heritage & Inheritance... Else everyone could have been able to stay together in 1 property without much discomfort... Also, shouldn't 'Meet-the-in laws' applies to Jin? Though, wonders how will the world (or at least the household) survives between the meeting of a Demon Fox & the Marauders (aka Spirit of Pranks meet the Prankster Kings)
