Oh this chapter made me cry...very well written ( as is the whole book, but the filled in gaps as to Zuko aiding in Azula's madness was very satisfying but also terribly sad. ) I've sympathized with Azula since the show ended and I was like 7 but wow, we never were shown the human side of her cause we only really saw her childhood from Zuko's perspective. He didn't like what his father had created or his hatred for what his father said was constantly being projected onto Azula which wasn't fair especially since Ursa pretty much backed him up on everything! For whatever reason I never considered him all that terrible to her other than constantly telling on her but I supposed that's how they wanted to write it, we were supposed to feel bad for Zuko, not Azula. She truly deserved better...her Mother didn't Love her as much as Zuko, this portrayal of him is probably accurate to what went on and her dad never actually cared about her. He just used and like you wrote, they all eventually betrayed her. I wish she got a better redemption arc in Canon as opposed to never recovering mentally and staying evil.

Checking in on this fanfic. It's been quite a while, but I still look forward for any updates. I reread chapter 10 and 11, those were excellent chapters. Very memorable even a couple of years later. Now that the princess has escaped, I'm curious to see what her plan is, what direction the story will take. You're an awesome writer!

Thank you for giving Ty Lee a spine. It's great character development and sets up whatever relationship grows out of this to be more balanced this round.

'Danger'
Interesting. I expected 'Help Me' as I truly can't understand why Azula would remain in a place like this for as long as she has if she really could escape at any time.
'Stay Away' or 'Run' seems more fitting if Ty Lee was in emanate danger.

This is it. This is the chapter that slammed dunk this story into my 5/5 category.

Azula toying with Dr. Yi, Azula tearing Dr. Yi to shreds, learning Dr. Yi brainwashed all those poor women in Ba Sing Se, realizing the Dragon parable has a double meaning, "just because you care about your sister," and that cliff hanger.

Wow just wow.

Toph is also one of my favorite characters. It's a shame she didn't get more screen time.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone capture Azula's character like this. She's clever, arrogant, yet self aware and restrained.

"This is Azula on drugs."
I thought Azula couldn't get any scarier. I was wrong.

Also the double (triple?) symbolism of 'chasing the dragon' in the title and parable! You've got me geeking out.

"At least I'm not the on asking advice from a crazy person!"

"Let me ask the voices in my head. Oh my, it's unanimous... You're the stupid one!"

Azula is hilarious and cuts deep, as she should.

This chapter was amazing, everyone is so in character I want to cry.

This is such a good fic! One of my new favourites! I'm loving the characterisation and the description and the pacing. Ahhh I am going to read some more now. Have a nice day!
