I know I'm very late reading and responding to this... and it makes me sad, after everything that's happened now, and how both of their stories are over... This is a brilliant fic, well-written, my ideal length, and what happens is perfect in my opinion :) Adding to favourites, definitely going to decide to come back to it!

Addie and Mark and Henry and Sofia and goddammit you paint a pretty picture. And I see that Callie's still retained what she learnt from Bailey. Damn, Callie can make the trio do whatever she wants, I see, whateeeeeeeeeeever she wants. (Can I maybe tell you what would I like to see happen with them then, pretty please Callie?)

But you're right - nowhere of that city has ever been her home. Is it her red hair? The colour so harshly colliding with the cold, gloomy palette of that place? I have a need to blame something so I'm borrowing a page out of Shonda's book here and she should be proud.

He hides so much under that rigid shell of his. THIS MAN WOULD MAKE A BETTER MONTGOMERY THAN ADDISON, WINTER MACHINE, SOMETIMES IDEK IF HE WAS A CLOSELY MENTORED STUDENT UNDER THE CAPTAIN OR WHAT.

Mark Mark Mark. I see that Addie's never told you about her metabolism. Unless you've observed it first hand yourself. Oh of course you have but like with so many other things you don't have the heart to point it out. But but but I'd like to think that she stuffed her face with pizzas in those two months not Chinese or bacon cheeseburgers okay okay and Mark half-mockingly competed with her with a knowing sense of sadness in his eyes and then she got mad so he caved to more pizza orders except for some reason they never got sick of pizzas (they're all the same self-l I'LL STOP) and now I'm rambling non-sense but I already told you to forget about a proper review so you should have no surprises here alright cool.

Okay, observation: Addie laughs/smiles "in spite of herself" a lot. You're responsible for my sadface.

Le snort with all the Sam/Henry. He actively goes out of his way (at least so it seems) to take care of Henry and then turns around verbally flogging Addie for his apparent need to do so. We shall all bow down to his holy (moral) highness. You've captured Shonda's essence so well.

Slow clap for you for the Addie/Mark/Sam confrontations. Slow clap for you. The passive-aggressive and almost quiet I mean creepy demeanour of Sam is (sadly) so consistent with canon and I'm reminded all over again why I hated this character in late s3. Oh, I'd been brushing away some feelings of my own in early s4 haven't I? Except Shonda's Sam was enough for my undoing yet Addison needed your Mark (twice) to admit what she's always known. Sam has a hard head, you said? Sometimes it might be even harder to drill something into this girl's skull, if I may say so. Oh now I sound all high-horsey so I'm gonna stop. I loved the patio scene of Maddison only touching each other with their lips. Shonda so relentlessly rushed (...) them through everything I think I'm still seeing doubles so my heart appreciates that you've kindly given them "all the time in the world" even if in this scene "feels like" was the operative. "Twenty is unconscionable"- funny, funny that you chose this word of them all. And now I am suddenly sad and angry all at once why do I ship Maddison why do I let you do this to me why?

And I hate Bizzy for plaguing Addie all her life. Hate hate hate. But I still want her back on the show with her fabulous everything. W-h-y.

I am ever-so-happy that you let Maddison be insane (though - allow me - I doubt that Einstein was the one responsible for the quote) if this shouldn't be the one good insane we get out of insanela- I mean Shondaland then I really don't know what to do with myself. I'm glad it's insane not crazy (as Derek or someone else would call her/them) that you used here though. Maddison endgame? What an insane (!) idea indeed.

This was amazing! I enjoyed the prompt-It felt VERY much like Addek/Maddison-Pre Grey's just with a more interesting twist. I loved the angstyness involved. Happy Birthday to Rachael-great prompt and AMAZING story as well!

Maybe choosing to believe "Char-" is Charlotte, not Charlene. At the very least, it serves as artistic license foreshadowing. "She's pulled the covers up to her chin." Surprised Sam didn't do it for her. Naturally Mark takes his coffee black (and Sam "light and sweet," just like he is!). If this isn't indicative of which one she should end up with...
"But so what?" Well, that was heartwrenching. "It's sturdier than it looks." Breakable if you just smash (bang) hard enough (his best friend). And I loved the line about more than that much alcohol naturally coursing through her veins. Made me smile. "She backseat drives." Intertextual reference, I'LL TAKE IT.
"She feels pleasantly naked without" Derek for a husband. Basically. All that facade. Also, I loveloveloved Addison not knowing whose shirt she's sleeping in - Mark or Derek's. That's Addison's Maddek dilemma in a sentence. And I really love the imagery of them growing up at different paces, sometimes "lagging behind."
Creepy Sam watching Maddison is the best thing since Shonda stopped knowing what to do with his character. Ugh, they really aren't different enough. I know we know how it ends, but it still feels desperate when "her world ends" and it's like you have to hold your breath in that flashback. That was written beautifully.
Did smile a lot when Mark punched Sam though.

Obviously this is how it should end. A reflection of that time before. The way you've written this.

This was good. I particularly liked how Sam was a jerk but not in an over-the-top monster kind of way. I think it's more interesting and realistic when he has ominous undertones. Especially since they weren't married yet; I'm sure things would be worse afterwards. I wish they would actually address these undertones on the show, but Shonda's so crazy she might think Addisam is MFEO. Barf. I feel like Shonda character-assassinated him over the past season or more, but I haven't seen the early seasons so can't really tell.

The parallels between Derek and Sam were good. The "no pants, no cable" conversation was funny and characteristic of Maddison.

So, this is now my favorite thing you've ever written which is hard because everything you write is perfection, but oh my God. It had everything. And all the tiny Sam jabs that always happen on the show and apparently just go unnoticed by people who don't think he's a son of a bitch, those were perfect as well, manipulative asshole. All the flashbacks and the comparisons. IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED BUT MORE. I bow down to your greatness, M.
