This is... really beautiful. I can't find the right words to describe how amazing it is. I love the idea of Korra being lonely, because it makes sense what with her being trained since she was a little girl, she didn't have any friends before coming to Republic City. And I think you wrote it really well here. You have such a way with words.

oh wow, I loved this. The section breaks were a really nice touch; it gave it a sort of epic-poetry feel. I really liked how her loneliness undulated, and the way she kept a mental friend count. Just heartbreaking. The theme of "home" also worked well here. I think the first part might have been the best in some ways; I don't think people have given a whole lot of thought to Korra's childhood, but honestly they were very traumatic circumstances. Great portrayal, really nice overall.

No, seriously, though. This is good. The best Makorra I've ever read, and I do not use absolutes lightly. I particularly like how you divide it up into itty-bitty bite-sized chunks. That gives us the sense of continuity while still maintaining the "day-in-the-life" quality of it - flashes of an epic journey, if you will.

No lie, that 'lonely end for a lonely girl' bit almost made me cry.

That was so so amazing. Really, I love your oneshots they give such an amazing glance at characters over time and I just loved this theme of loneliness for Korra. Really, quite quite beautiful.
