Well, if someone's in the mood for a depressing major character death story, this does the job nicely! I think it's well done all around, though I did find myself debating whether dropping the last line would have improved it.

Very good and also very sad. Yes, Malcolm would sacrifice himself to save others. Wonderful job at illustrating the impact on the crew.

*sniff* That was so sad... But how I figured he would go in the end. Sacrificing his life for his friends. Painful, but well-written.
