Season 7 and Sam's lack of speach was the thing that bugged you most? Where to start with season 7? The leviathan story got so boring and it started out so good. They completely wasted the talent of the actor who played Dick Roman by turning him into a cartoon character. Sam's sanity became a back burner non issue. Suddenly he could control his mental welbeing by simply pressing a scar. They dedicated one whole episode to the fallout of that. The season 7 finale was horrible and anti climatic in every sense of the word. I've been a loyal viewer of the show since it's very first episode. I've endured things no sane person should have to. I've endured season 4. That was the season they decided to crap all over the Sam character and throw his fans under the proverbial bus. I endured the horribly depressing season 5 chalf full of the self righteous prick Dean turned into. Now I'm enduring "destiel". This might be the thing to make me put a gun to my head and pull the trigger. Sam's inability to speak in season 7 was the least of my worries. I'm just glad that after all the fighting in the first part of season 8 we got an awesome season. We got our big brother Dean back who suddenly stopped putting every Tom. Dick and Harry over his brother. Sam returned to being the sweet, sensitive and yet pretty bitchy little brother we all love. The kill first ask questions later super hunter was gone. I never really thought about the fact Sam was suddenly silent in season 7 but you are absolutely right. I guess I just got sick of listening to Dean whine about all the injustices being done to him. The quiet Sam thing got right by me. Excellent take.

This was just wonderful. You're right. Sam wasn't doing much talking those past two seasons. But I feel like this year they are finally having the talks they used to. This story was so telling and you got to the heart of the matter by using Bobby and I loved it! Thank you!

Thank you so much for writing this! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt Sammy was left out of the picture in Season 7. Well, a lot of things were left out in Season 7 and I think the writers concentrate too much on the hunt; after all, it's not just about the hunt, but Dean's and Sam's lives.
"That's my brother you're talkin' about." -WOW! that's a powerful statement, even if Dean was trying to make a joke of it. Monsters come in all sizes, types and forms, even the human sort. And yes, I believe there is such a thing as a 'nice' monster; I believe Sam is a 'nice' monster. Dean may never, ever admit it to himself or anyone else, but his brother is not entirely human. No matter how hard Sam struggles to cling to humanity, he will always sympathize with monsters. It's sweet and tragic.
I think it's awful that the boys have lost Bobby. :( It makes me dread Season 8.

Aw - it made me tear up! especially Dean's bit about being proud. I do agree that the show has started to feel very Dean-centric, and any story line with Sam feels like a sideline rather than the main plot. One of the reasons I retreat to fanfic so I can get my fix! I would definitely be interested in anything else you were planning to write.

YES. Thank you for addressing an issue I've noticed most prominently this season. Sam doesn't talk. Dean doesn't talk either but I feel the show does a better job of giving us an idea of his mindset then Sam's. Sam is practically a mystery this season. There is no communication at all between the boys this season. It's disappointing.

So thank you for writing this wonderful story where Sam gets to grieve Bobby's loss and gets a say in how everything is effecting him. Beautiful job. I can never get enough hugs between the boys. Nicely done. :)

Love this. I never thought it got enough coverage on the show, how brave Sam was to jump into that freaking hole into hell!
