I really liked the line where HG seems genuinely surprised after all her flirting has finally gotten the reaction she wanted. And the silver platter one -they both were so evocative. Brilliant short story, I very much enjoyed reading it.

You really captured what I often suspected was going on inside Myka's mind. Your choice of phrasing is wonderful. I especially liked the line "She'd never really disliked her name, but whenever it left Helena's lips it made her feel as though it was something she should actively want, but that wasn't a notion she could process at that particular moment." I can honestly say I feel the same way everytime I hear HG say Myka's name.
