The placement of "John will kill for Sherlock" was just perfect. Very powerful. It jolted me into its importance right away, coming after something as lighthearted as the ashtray bit.

I love that you focused in on how Sherlock felt about John being the first person who didn't tell him to piss off, about how THAT was his moment of clarity about who John was, what he might become. I agree with your assessment there - that scene in ASiP is so subtle, yet so telling on Sherlock's face. Well-spotted, and a lovely character piece overall! :)
