Oh! This is really lovely. I've always wondered why the show never tapped into the Elena/Elijah connection. Probably, I suppose, because her dance card is already quite full. But there's definitely something there. Always has been, from the first time he sees her and smells her. And knowing now that there was a Petrova Original, a girl he loved back when he was still human? Oh, history is cruelly repeated in MF. I swear, it's a Hellmouth for sure... It's hard to imagine an 18-year old with a 1000-year old, which is why I never put these two together, but I'm happy to roll with it.

Elijah is always so still. I love that about him. How he stands there without moving, never letting me forget he's lived for more than 1,000 years. But when he does move? It's so swift and decisive you don't even see it happening, just the aftermath. I love how you captured that in this little glimpse.

And Elijah as a lover? Yes and please. I have no doubts he's exquisite.

Some lines I especially enjoyed:

"The situation with the Salvatore brothers is reaching its boiling point. In the very near future, she's going to leave them both. Her growing feelings for Damon is the final nail in the coffin. She doesn't know it yet but she's past the point where her conscience will allow her to choose either brother. Once she acknowledges the extent to which her heart has been torn, she'll leave Mystic Falls... Elena is not selfish enough to destroy the connection between two brothers." - Truth right there. She is not, nor does she ever want to be, another Katherine. The show didn't do a very good job having her bed-hop, but alas. It'd be difficult to pull off with any brothers, but brothers who used to be best friends until an identical girl came between them? That's the stuff you never recover from.

"Hope is the cruelest emotion one can ever experience. It maims as surely as it heals." - More truth. Sad, but yes. I always think about how Klaus is alone by choice, but Elijah ended up alone by circumstance. And after so long, so much heartbreak and loneliness and disappointment, yes, hope would be a dangerous thing indeed.

Sexy, though with chapter one being mostly in Elijah's head, the consent was...dubious.

I liked it though, good job! This pairing is hot.

OHGOD MY ELEJAH FEELS
Holy shit. For someone who claims not to be a writer, you sure wrote something gorgeous right there honey. I'm serious, that was beautiful and emotional and sexy and WOO I just love me some mischievous Elijah... You wrote the encounter very well; a lot of other stories I've read have tried too hard with the characterization of Elijah when he and Elena finally have sex (because it WILL happen damn it!), but you wrote him so believably I could see it playing out on the show!
So anyways, thanks for your contribution to the cause. You bring honor to all Elejah-ans. Lol.

I really hope you continue this story! I love the idea that Elijah is planning a way to protect her and then coming back to claim her. Poor Elena is thinking it was a one time thing. What she was thinking about when she was arguing with Stephan and Damon was so funny!
