The bond that they share is what allowed Sammy to grab ahold of Lucifer and open the gate and jump into the Cage; so it only makes sense that that same bond would help him to overcome the helluncinations.

Dean will undoubtedly give him all sorts of grief and tease him mercilessly about being a girl all while holding him tight to ground him in reality.

I love this story way more than I should-a totally sanctioned act of mushiness! I love the stopgap measure you found to put off Lucifer, but even more I think I love their conversation over it. Because, yeah, Dean would give him grief for it, and then he'd do absolutely anything Sam needed without shame. Great idea, but great writing, too!
