That struck something in me, when he tells Arthur not to worry, that he'll be fine as he's dragged away into obvious demise. Someone I knew, who was pretty liked in our small HS, told his father those words as he was taken into the ER. He was born with a heart defect. Needless to say, he didn't return.

The most effective of tortures and the hardest to deal with. It certainly has the greatest of fall outs or at least one of the greatest. The first person of this and the short partitioned writing style was particularly interesting and left the story with a rather surreal aura that fit well with the subject. Thank you for posting
