Reviews for One Night in London
OSUSprinks chapter 5 . 2/26/2012
More, of course! lol

I wonder if they will marry and when. After Matthew and Mary? And will they be surprised?

That is probably too much, but those were my thoughts.

I lovd that he loves her so much. The way they interacted in the hospital had me worried about how far they had regressed! Thank you for proving me wrong!

Thank God for epilogues. This continues to be heartbreaking even with the love in between. You are so very talented! Thank you for sharing!

Heart breaking and so very wonderful. I am almost glad I didn't read this until you finished!

Alice cracked me up!

The dialogue in particular gave a good sense of these two characters; I could hear their voices as I reread their initial meeting.
Batwings79 chapter 5 . 2/26/2012
BRAVA! I really enjoyed the reunion at the hospital. She would definitely have been wrapped up in what was happening with Matthew and I liked that he respected that and was willing to give her the time and space she needed to get her bearings at first. And it was so sweet, the way he helped with her coat and then just holding her hand and reassuring her that he would be there for her whenever she was ready and in what ever way she needed for him to be there. So like the Richard Clarkson that I always like to see! Good Job and I can't wait for your next story. ;-) Not that I wouldn't like to see this one continue but I'm not sure that I have any new ideas...that I wouldn't want to use for myself! LOL!
griseldalafey chapter 5 . 2/26/2012
I love how unsure he was with her at the beginning and how... not unsure later on...

But you had me worried for a moment! Thinking she had met someone in Paris and then you turned it around wonderfully into another way of her showing him how much she loves him and how commited she is to him.
Katie Duggan's Niece chapter 4 . 2/18/2012
I like it that Isobel is so assertive and frank with him. That strikes me as very much in character.

I also like the bittersweet images, and the essential loneliness of travel, that you've conjured up here.

The "slightly more cheerful epilogue" is much to be desired!
Katie Duggan's Niece chapter 3 . 2/18/2012
"... if you remain this gentlemanly I think you might drive me mad" is a great line, though of course the story itself slips well beyond the posted rating.
griseldalafey chapter 4 . 2/18/2012
I loved it! To pieces and back! Im so glad she went after all. But the most wonderful thing: he goes to see *her* off, she proposes to *him*. In my mind there are countless male soldiers on that platform with them, kissing their girls goodbye and proposing to them before they are to depart to go to war and somewhere among them stand Richard and Isobel, their roles completely reversed, which makes it even more heart-wrenching.

And goodness yes, please let her have a happy home-coming!
griseldalafey chapter 3 . 2/16/2012
Oh goodness... I dont know what I want anymore! I really want Isobel to go to Paris, because thats who she is, she wont go back on her word. But on the other hand, how can she ever leave him?

Im really curious to find out where youll take this story.

As ussual Isobels humoring herself through a situation where she just finds herself to be particularly vulnerable. "I just hope you're ready to have your illusions about my brilliantly youthful body thoroughly shattered." was just a golden line!
Batwings79 chapter 3 . 2/15/2012
Another beautiful scene of seduction for my favorite doctor and nurse. It was very hot and steamy as well! *fanning self while trying to type out this review* I don't know why but the sweetest part for me was him taking her hair down and then being torn by disparate desires and my favorite line - 'need he felt to hold her, just hold her forever, never letting her leave his arms' - I think he should just hold on and not ever let her leave for France. Just my humble opinion now...LOL! Good Job! Will we get more, PLEASE? and thank you!
heymovie1 chapter 2 . 2/15/2012
I'm looking forward to readin the next chapter, where something M-rated will happen (I asume). A very sweet chapter indeed. Thanks and update asap please :)
griseldalafey chapter 2 . 2/12/2012
You write their interactions so beautifully. But I love that she is really determined to go. Thats Isobel, she wont back down now.
Batwings79 chapter 2 . 2/12/2012
I thought this chapter was absolutely perfect in every way. Between her having to almost physically hold herself back from throwing herself into his arms and him, the confident doctor in charge of every situation at the hospital but so 'at a loss' here when it comes to affairs of the heart, especially his own heart. And then there's the kiss, so hesitant at first and then so passionate...and his begging her to stay.

I also loved this exchange - 'I'm supposed to tell you that I love you before you say that. - You did, without the words.' It strikes me as being so in-character for my interpretation of these two - as doctor/surgeon and nurse - communicating without words!

It is so the perfect setup for her to take him by the hand and lead him up the stairs. And really shows that you know how to 'set the scene' - readers have a choice at this point to move on to 'the scene of seduction' or to close the chapter and end their experience on a highly romantic note!

That being said - bring on the scene of seduction - provided you have one written of course! LOL! It really is within your power as the author to determine if the story ends here or is this just the beginning. With a title of 'One Night in London', it seems as though THIS is the center of the universe for this story. I admit that I would be intrigued for her to go on to Paris and for us to be able to see if/how they are able to keep their romance alive and thriving as the war moves on around them. And OH, THE ANGST!...should he not hear from her for awhile and then find out that she was either AT/near the front lines when something catastrophic happens and he doesn't know whether she's dead or alive! Listen to me...you'd think I was writing this story myself! ;-)

More, PLEASE! ;-)
Katie Duggan's Niece chapter 2 . 2/11/2012
Terribly romantic, and beautifully written. You hit all the right bittersweet notes with the scene between Isobel and Richard. I particularly liked how she boldly spoke first. What a wise woman she is.

And this passage was a standout:

"Many times he had admired Isobel's determination- her 'ill-bred ferocity' Lady Violet called it. He liked it less when he was up against it."
