I managed to find the remaining chapters of your story elsewhere online and just wanted to express (though you worked on this many years ago) my thanks for this wonderful story. It was a rollercoaster read, and surely one of the most ambitious and well-realised Tolkien fanfictions out there. The characterisation, the writing, the references to mythology and philosophy and literature - everything was superbly judged. Reading your work, I also properly appreciated for the first time just how amazing the story of Beren and Luthien is. I also completely fell in love with the character of Finrod in this script!

I'm not sure if you're planning to write past the scene where Beren & Luthien go to confront Carcharoth - that would be fabulous - but thank you anyway for what you have given us.
Gyreflight chapter 8 . 12/20/2013
I’ve just finished re-reading this after I was kindly pointed at some additional chapters which were never posted here – I always seem to forget just how good it is until I start reading and can’t stop (which doesn’t do much for my sleep patterns, I can tell you).

Actually, I have to admit I came to this pretty late, as I usually have difficulty with script format (and I’m talking about real play-scripts, not just the usual fic-script attempts), so I didn’t pick it up until it had already appeared on favourites and rec lists all over the place, at which point I could have kicked myself for missing out on something so special, because once I started reading I realised that the script format is an absolutely integral part of the structure of the story, and I couldn’t imagine it being written in any other way.

It’s actually intimidating to try to write feedback for this (which is why I haven’t previously done so) – there’s no way to do it justice, because there is so much that deserves comment that I can’t possibly mention everything – I can’t even pick out quotes without the same problem arising. All I can find to say is that it’s funny and wise and deep-hearted, full of character and wit and understanding, and I’m so very glad that you spent the time to give everyone this unlikely delight.

Ah well, better to fail of the attempt than fail to make it at all – which seems an appropriate enough comment, given the source…

I hope you’re enjoying whatever you are doing now, and thank you again for writing this.

This was an awesome story! Well done!
I'm just sad it was never completed, because it was quite unique and fun to read!

This is amazing. I love your cast, your dialog, Noldorian geekery and Luthien's craziness, and in particular how Beren comes through - justly insecure, understandably traumatized, yet totally worth giving up immortality.

I do hope there is an epilogue, at least.

This was *so good*. Please, please continue! (Although the last update was almost ten years ago, so I'm not sure there's much hope :( )
duj chapter 4 . 9/24/2012
That was a bit abrupt. And how did Huan manage to be with both Luthien and the Feanor two?

So dog is elf's best friend too.
duj chapter 2 . 9/23/2012
You do a good job of putting faces to those worlds and people of Middleearth's past that were always too high distant for my fanship.

This line particularly struck me - "it means, when all else fails, that one may send a vassal to his death, but never without good reason. Never from pride, or willful ignorance, or carelessness. Never a duty given without regard for the servant's honor" - because I have so missed it (and all the shades and heights and depths of Tolkien's thought) in the Potterverse where I usually lurk.

I like the combination of noble lay and modern informality.
Mythopoeia chapter 1 . 3/18/2011
I have loved this marvelous work ever since I first discovered it back in 2004-I still come back to check on it periodically in hopes that it will be continued. Your characterizations are perfect, especially Finrod and Beren-I have re-read the entire script numerous times. I still hope that you will finish this, as right now it feels like one of those brilliant old classical works from Greece or Rome which remain only as incomplete scraps, beautiful but ever tantalizing the reader with more. Thank you so much for the Script, and please come back to it soon!
Please continue chapter 1 . 1/7/2011
Philosopher at Large,

Your stories are amazing, especially this one. I adore your portrayal of Finrod, elvish being, and your understanding and portrayal of Arda. I also love your incorporation of philosophical content into your writings.

Please, this fellow philosophy lover begs you to continue!
chisscientist chapter 2 . 3/10/2008
I really enjoyed your story. It is obvious you've put a huge amount of work into it. It isn't quite how I'd imagined it, but you really made me think about the events and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you for writing.
