Coyoyotie chapter 4 . 1/11/2015
I like this fanfiction (except Galdalf, who seems particularly bitter for some reason) and wish there was more c: however, I don't see the point of you making him blind if he has a spell enabling him to see all the time anyway..?
alia00 chapter 4 . 9/19/2014
it's a good fiction
Blithesome chapter 4 . 3/10/2014
Woah... I have slightly mixed feelings about this story, but mostly I just think that it's intriguing and very cool. I like the jaded, tough as nails warrior Harry you have here. He's such a walking mystery, going around in his black leather coat and enduring stab wounds with little more than a grunt. I couldn't help myself - I had to put up some spaghetti western tracks as background music as I read this...

Usually I'm a bit leery of Harrys that deviate so much from the canon, but the way you set it up makes sense. I could see him growing serious and quite powerful with the war being prolonged for so many years - especially when it was caused by his meddling with time. The eyesight thing is cool - it can be used both as an advantage and a weakness in the plot. The snake staff is interesting, although if it contains a part of Harry's soul, does it mean he has dabbled in some very dark magic? The first chapter was excellent btw, it implied that there was a long story behind the events leading to Harry's disappearance, but didn't bore the reader with too much background info. It was nice to read things between the lines and get straight to the action - well done.

One thing that bothered me was the fight with the wraiths. Why would Harry use a sword? Shooting spells at others in battle is the norm in his world, so why would he opt for the much riskier close-range combat? Conjuring up fireballs should be easy enough for him. I also wonder if he could just use the Aquamenti spell whenever he needs water... Releasing a character from the Potter universe to Middle Earth is always risky and hard to do right, simply because they are so powerful compared to everyone else. Nevertheless, I really like this story so far, it's well written and you've added some personality into the crossover.

I do wonder if you'll ever finish this story. Writing LotR fics is always a tremendous undertaking if you plan to go through the whole adventure... It makes me wonder why people always begin their fanfics before Rivendell - it would be easier to begin nearer the end of LotR. Many writers don't have their character interacting with Frodo and Sam much anyway before they leave the Fellowship... But that's just a random thought. Hopefully you'll write more of this.

elsa3beth chapter 4 . 12/26/2013
for all that i love HP/LOTR cross-overs, I've found few that occur during the Fellowship and are well-executed. I'm happy to find that this story seems to be an exception. Well written, powerful, but still uniquely interesting incarnation of Harry, and intelligent interweaving of plot.

Hope you don't abandon!
myriad-souls chapter 4 . 10/28/2013
