I like this poem you have going. You really should keep writing this! If the rhyming is getting hard, here's something you could do. The rhyme scheme you're using right now is that each line rhymes with the next one. Like this-
Once there was a boy,
he had a favorite toy.
even on a rainy day,
with this toy he'd play.
that sort of thing. (If this makes any sense, I'll be surprised.) What you could do is skip the rhyme in every other line. like this-
Once there was a boy,
he ran around all day.
and even when it rained,
he still went out to play.
Also, there's a great website that tells you the words that can rhyme with the word you type in. Just look up Rhymezone and it'll be there.
I hope you can still write this! I'd love you to finish it!

This is so COOL I was a who when my school did Seussical jr ah memories so dr seuss holds a big place in my heart and I just started liking dr who so thank you for this!
