Well...factor in wartime rationing. The kids likely hadn't seen ANY candy for quite some time. Because let's face it, even if you like Turkish Delight (as I do also) how much of it can you really eat at one time?

Also I think the candy was magically enchanted to cause an addiction in the novel. Edmund was not in his right mind. Not to mention the Queen told him that she just wanted to meet his brother and sisters. He did not seem to believe the stories he learned afterwords (possibly part of her spell) so he did not really think he was trading his sibs for candy.

Brilliant. Fantastically brilliant. (Actually it reminds me of Halt from Ranger's Apprentice; have you read that as well?)

A grumpy Lucy is quite spectacular to behold.

My favorite part was that that was my reaction to the confection, too! Not the spitting part, but the "You want me to traid my what for *what*?!" part. Loved it, as always

YOU ARE MAKING ME CRAZY. You write so amazingly, you draw me in to these fabulous plots like "Monochrome" and "Tug of War" and "The Magician's Cousins", then you leave me! Aaaagh! My wall is full of dents from banging my head against it ! Have mercy, o mercurial magician! Please update just ONE of these great stories! Just an itty bitty chapter? A paragraph? A few words? "They all died the end"? Ok maybe not that-

Oh this Marsh Wiggle was darling. Such pessimism! Peter put up with it so well. And that poor Rhino! Edmund's going to be furious when he finds out-and far less patient, I expect.
