I need to mention how much I loved this story - I've read this twice now. The tone is so comforting, and there is just this mellow mood throughout (save for Kuro trying to talk to Souma about being his kid's surrogate mother)... loved how Ryuuichi was so embarrassed by the KuroFai, and how he's just like Kurogane when he was younger.. all "I'm strong when I kill lots of people".. and I loved that "is this the part where you talk about how much you love Fai without mentioning the word love" line... can totally imagine it.
Loved the recurring furisode, and how you tied up the theme of marriage, and I love how Fai was all "you can't say for sure that your dad isn't going to die even if I'm around".. which later makes Ryuuichi so worried :P and I loved the Kuro-and-Fai drawing on the ground! and Nadeshiko just smiling at Kurogane and Fai being all sappy
Syaoran's appearance at the end was really cool! Loved the addition of the camera. Appreciated the furisode/Nihon mention - had no idea that the male lovers of samurai wore that.

I swear, this story made me fangirl every other paragraph. I absolutely adore this story. I kind of wish there was more though but I'm perfectly content with these four chapters. :-)

This is something I don't usaully read but this was good.

I get to this part: "Do you understand the meaning of the term 'lesbian'? Should I spell it out for you, maybe with shadow puppets?"

"Just because you're a lesbian doesn't mean your womb stops working!" he argued, and then paused. "Unless it does. Does it?"

Souma looked at him for several seconds, and said, "Yes. Yes it does. Instead, we grow teeth down there."

"Really?" he said, wide-eyed. He wouldn't put it past Kendappa, but Souma just looked at him and then buried her face in her hands.

"Your face," she said, muffled, and he realized she was laughing at him. "Oh gods, your face!"

"So you don't really have teeth down there?" he asked suspiciously, and her shoulders started shaking pretty violently.

It took her several minutes to calm down, which Kurogane took to mean she'd been fucking with him. Eventually she lifted her head from her hands, the kohl she wore around her eyes smudged where she'd laughed so hard she'd cried, and said, "your boyfriend already stopped by and told me you needed an heir. He had the sense to bring expensive sake. Teeth!" And she was off again.

AND THEN I CAN"T STOP LAUGHING.

OMG! *tears* this is just soooo sweet and adorable! I just love love love seeing Kurogane and Fai like this. Hahaha. Ryuuichi was adorablt too! Especially with his apparernt disgust for his parents affectionate love. :D

(Aha! This fic! I have finally found it!) I really love this fic, it gives me the peaceful, homely feeling of lying on a rug in front of a fire in winter. But at the same time, I feel rather melancholic while reading this. Especially in the last chapter, because I'm reminded that they are getting old, and good things don't last forever.

I guess when I read fiction its because I like to imagine a small pocket of frozen time when everyone is young and happy and together (which is why post-series Nihon fics sometimes make me feel lonely because Sakura and Syaoran aren't around anymore), but your fic sort of makes my imagination extends all the way to the end of their lives. I'm not sure if that's what you intended, but this story sort of makes me imagine that they will live a long, happy, peaceful life, and die a peaceful death together as old men.

While the thought that there will eventually be an end makes me feel rather melancholic, I'm sort of torn between that and the WAFF I feel thinking of how beautifully their lives play out till the end. However, I think the bittersweet feeling of serenity mixed with melancholy is what makes this story so beautiful. It feels like settling down after a long adventure (which is exactly what it is), yet feeling a sort of nostalgia for the days of youth and old escapades. Ahem, anyway I'm going to quit rambling now and just get to the ultimate point of this review. I love this fic, and I look forward to seeing more from you!

But this story left me kinda sad, really..

I mean- its a good thing Tsubasa ended (a bad thing it ended without a kiss) because both Fai and Kuragane will always stay young for me.

Getting old is inevitable and also sad. I hope Fai and Kuragane will find a way to stay alive..for ever- but then again Im being egoistical!

What I wanted to say- a beautiful and original yet really sad stuff you have here.

You know, sometimes there are stories that become sort of like an old, familiar blanket - warm enough that you want to curl into them, and when you've had a bad day, you go back and re-read them, remind yourself of the nicer things in life.

Erm, what I mean to say through the incoherent rambling is that this is lovely and I really enjoyed it. It's sweet, but by no means saccharine. There's just a sort of tenderness about the whole thing that's really pleasing to read. I did feel rather sad that Ryuuichi had to tell Fai about being his dad - but then, Fai's always been quick to diminish his importance to others and I think it fit. /analysing fictional characters as real people.

(And I'm sure this is completely random and odd, but Ryuuichi/blacksmith's son OTP? I'll just shuffle back to my corner now.)

Lovely! I love the introduction, where you make us think it's Kurogane and then reveal it's his son. Ryuuichi's impression of his father and his interactions with Fai were really cute.
