You would imagine that the Doctor would have been very frustrated that he couldn't give Amy and Rory back their child. It had to have been a terrible line to walk between wanting his best friends to have their child back and him wanting his future wife to be everything she had become. Poor Doctor! And how strong River had to be to allow her past to remain the same when she had the power to change her life to a happier one.

This was wonderful. Very in character, and just the right blend of amusing and heartbreaking and sweet. (Which basically sums them up.)

I loved this. I felt that something like this is the missing link between a good man goes to war and let's kill hitler. Their relationship seems to be exactly where I'd like them to be in the show. The charachterization was amazing and I feel like we kind of missed the doctor's frustration over not finding melody. (I know we saw it in the promo, but honestly I would have waned more) So thank you for this. It's canon for em now :)

A beautiful way to bridge the gap between AGMGTW and LKH, well done. And I think they should show this side of the Doctor more often, because it would definitely add an extra dimension to his character. Great one-shot!
