Thanks for this great Riley/Scab story. The threat of Greyback worked perfectly to create the threat to their eventual happiness together.

The idea of her cooking having a special quality compared to magicked food is interesting to explore. Some ideas about feng shui and food and some teachings about macrobiotic cooking explore the idea that food carries the energy of the one preparing it. Angry cooks deliver angry food. Loving cooks embed their food with their love. I've often tried to keep my frustrations at bay when cooking, but it is sometimes a challenge to manage feeding even a tiny family- - especially when my husband has fixed my cooking the next day or feels entitled to state what needs improvement. He's the better cook but has a creepy idea that women cook for their families ... and any more I saw will simply be bitterness. So back to energies in food. I've returned to food service as I couldn't find employment with over-qualification and little professional work. It is a challenge to do the physical side of the work, as it was when I was a teen. I went through some misery with a co-worker being frustrated at my apparent "lack" in efficiency. But I love the customer interaction, much more than my "efficient" co-workers. I get inspired for characters when I interact with customers. I swear, Prof. Umbridge shops where I work! No kidding. And not the HP Musical Sequel version of her. Anyway, I can relate to many perspectives that you've included in your storytelling. Great job. I also like the sense that Riley has about a stranger being in her apartment. That's a nice plot going on. I know you're most likely finished with this story (the mobile version doesn't give info about a story being Complete or Incomplete), but I'll throw in my hope that the cursed coffee maker has a reprise before the story is over. An estate sale. *grin*

I adore the thought of the portrait lady getting hot and bothered by Scabior looking at her.

What a great ending to a lovely story. I was hoping Scabior and Riley would be parents when you finished this story, so I was happy to see that the are. The bed time story was beyond adorable.
