Love this story so much! I felt sad for Zuko, really sad, but I'm happy his pain ended.

Fragile shell drifting in the foam is from the song "Leaves from the vine" that also appeared on Avatar the last airbender when Iroh was singing it to his dead son Lee (or at least, I think his son was named Lee)

Tricking people into reading this? Yes! But I would have to use a different trick other than "Oh hey, there's this awesome story and I think you should read it" because that would be a truth and you can't trick people with that unless they believe the truth to be a lie

Hmm I though the first encounter with toph would be a bit different since the description, and man I feel really sorry for zuko

Despite this being written years ago I gotta say it was good! And don't think you got away with making the names of the past avatars references to Bleach! I see what you did there!

Sharing memories is almost always awkward but here it works, kind of.

Katara and Sokka seemed rather mean in this chapter. They have plenty of reasons to be angry, but Sokka in particular should have been able to see that Zuko was injured, as a hunter I imagine that would be a natural skill.

Some parts of the chapter feel slightly stilted, not seriously so, just compared to the first chapter. The conversation of what to do about the situation was good however, and something I think the show dodged by having Combustion Man turn up as a common enemy for Zuko to help fight to "prove he'd changed sides". It's far more interesting to have them figure that out themselves with time.

It definitely makes sense that Zuko would have an overdeveloped startle reflex. Also Toph seems to see things clearer with no eyes than the rest of the group does with two, pity that backfired badly.
