Reviews for I Have a Sin of Fear
Guest chapter 1 . 10/13/2015
I can't believe there's fic for this. Well, I guess I can. There's fic for everything. Mostly what I can't believe is that in such a presumably small content producing fandom, there is fic this good! This is rather beautiful. Well done.
IstariWho chapter 1 . 2/22/2014

Catherine Pugh chapter 1 . 7/30/2012
So well done. Good inner monologue, like a memory. Well written! Love the insight of Peter's character.
Goldleaf83 chapter 1 . 10/7/2011
Another beautifully worked story: the arc of episodes from childhood to the end of Sayers' series perfectly encapsulates this aspect of Wimsey's character, of which he himself is highly self-aware. Each one is grounded directly or implicitly in canonical references, which are a pleasure to catch for those of us who have read all the books. Yet they are simultaneously heart-breaking in showing the impact of the events on Peter from his perspective, rather than outside as we see in Sayers's own work. And the set of vignettes taken as a whole forms a very thoughtful meditation on fear, violence, responsibility, and death. A very fine job indeed!
fledge chapter 1 . 9/14/2011
Another highly philosophical and/or psychological from DLS reincarnate. A wonderful portrait of Peter - again - and in addition a subtle argument against capital punishment. Principles certainly do kill. Actually, there is a lot of truth in the idea that all the really horrible atrocities in history have been committed by so-called (self-styled) idealists...

A rare treat indeed!
Dickensian812 chapter 1 . 8/26/2011
Oh, my word. That was so good. So, SO good. You've captured Peter just brilliantly.

perwinkle27 chapter 1 . 6/16/2011
This is very well done. You've caught several of the key elements of Peter - the shell shock, the trouble he has when a murderer is to be hung, his reliance on Bunter and later Harriet. Very nice vignettes.
ShakNali chapter 1 . 6/16/2011
Nicely done. The ending of Busman's Honeymoon has always stuck with me vividly. Dear Peter is the only detective I can think of who genuinely feels upset at sending someone to death row, even if the person is an unrepentant murderer. There are a few who feel some regret, but the vast majority seem to wipe their hands and say, "Well, that's done. What now?" Peter, on the other hand, acknowledges that there is a real person involved, not just "a criminal'.
