I agree 100% with this. maybe we "newbies" are different from the older Whovians but all in all it's the same fandom.

I get how the old whovians must be felling, we come along and think that we know everything about the fandom just from what we've learned from what we've seen in the 2005 series and sorta take over the fandom with our ideas of what is and what isn't, and as a "veteran" of many other fandoms I get how easy it is to prejudice all of the "newbies" as ignorant and maybe even trying to take over their place in the fandom and change it into something else, but I think I speak for most of us when I say that we definitely aren't! we are eager to learn everything there is to know about the Whoniverse, so give us time and some day we'll learn that we actually agree, cause after all we have one big thing in common: The love for "Doctor Who"

I personally can't remember which one of older Doctors I saw (might've been 3 or 6, I'm not too sure...) but 10 was the first of the 3 new Doctors that I can remember seeing...

It was odd at first to watch the old show and then watch the new but now I adore Doctors 3 to 6 as well as 9 through 11!

(And I have agree with the screaming bit at the end of this cuz the companions now have a much bigger role in the series than before, no offense to the watchers of the older Doctors...)

That's a fair point. Screaming or kissing? Though there is a fair amount of women yelling 'Doctooooooooooor!' in the New Who. :)

As one of the 'newbies', I applaud you for putting our feelings and thoughts into this letter. I only discovered Doctor Who a few months ago but I think that it is one of the best television shows of all time!

I am sort of inbetween new and old who. I started watching series 4 of the new Doctor who well I always tend to do everyhing backwards so why not this :D

I have only watched the old episodes with Romana every one of them and then one or two of the rest and lots of the big finish audios.

There is no shame in coming to a fine place a bit later than others, consider yourself to be merely 'fashionably late' - this lovely imaginative world is most assuredly big enough for us all. I'm an old-school Whovian whose 'Doctor' was Three, but I never tire of seeing the delight in those who have more newly found the delightful treasure that is Who. Ignore the naysayers, tread gently with other people's hearts and cherished favorites and enjoy your explorations. Classic has a vast trove to share, so bring along some friends while you're at it.

As a classic and newbie at the same time, I love this fic. My dad was a huge Whovian, and I grew up on scarfs and jelly babies, but now I'm just barely post-college and Matt Smith is just the Second Doctor reincarnated to me, just younger and more modern. Which by the way, the cosmic hobo (Second Dcotor) is just amazing for a modern Whovian to discover.

I like this! I'd be happy to teach you the ways of Classic!Who even though I'm only just starting myself. You haven't lived until you've seen some of those episodes, bubble wrap monsters or not.

Just give it a go, is what I say!
