I know you'll probably never write on this again, since it's been like, 5 years, but I really like your story.

Keep Calm and Be Ninja chapter 3 . 1/27/2016
Awesome fanfic! I love it! Excellent writing, and I love how you don't go straight for the lust and passion. It's nice to see other sides to a relationship, such as Rex and Ahsoka's first kiss and their time spent together. What will their lives be like now? What adventures will they go on? I'm so curious I could explode! Please update soon, this is an AMAZING fanfic!

laloga chapter 3 . 1/11/2012
What a beautiful, vivid scene! I love the reflection of the mountains in the water, and the analogy that you drew. :)

Yes, it is a brief moment, but a very sweet one. :) Loved the "cya'rika" conversation as well. :D

sachariah chapter 3 . 11/27/2011
Aw... you're way too kind. All I did was offer my subtle encouragement (*cough*whine*cough*), after all. :P Seriously though, I'm thrilled that you're taking this up again! I'm not exaggerating - I've read the first two chapters maybe a half dozen times since I last reviewed.

And out-of-character? Really? Please, if your portrayals here are "out of character", then TCW is just bad fanfiction. Or something equally ludicrous (I guess for a few episodes this season... TCW *was* bad fanfic, but I digress). Certainly, neither Rex nor Ahsoka are written this way in the show, but this fic isn't set during that timeframe; it's set after a devastating tragedy that has destroyed everything they know. Ahsoka's going to be sober, muted, and contemplative. Rex is pretty stoic, but even he shows signs of being unsettled, treading "uncharted territory." All that to say, that given the extreme circumstances surrounding this story, your portrayals of both of these characters are perfectly plausible and realistic.

This chapter is short, certainly - essentially a single scene - but that's hardly a fault. I love the introspective, thoughtful manner Ahsoka has, in the beginning. It makes perfect sense for her to feel this way, shaken and disturbed. It was so easy to visualize; it actually reminded me of Obi-Wan at the end of ROTS. And the imagery was simple, but beautiful: *"The mountains' reflection in the water swayed, completely the opposite of its source."* Loved this line!

Okay, I don't know if you meant this, but I took the reference to the stolid nature of the mountains as a (subconscious?) analogy to Rex. This could be just me, since I tend to make that analogy a lot in my own Rexoka work, but IIRC you made the same reference in previous chapters.

Just loved the short moment of banter between them, reflecting on their past experiences. It's much more subdued than the sort of interaction they would have shared before the order, but if fits perfectly two friends (and slightly more) who are both healing, and finding just a bit of happiness between themselves.

Rex's nervousness made me grin, as did Ahsoka's perception of it - he's so out of his element here. I did like his standing at almost "parade rest" beside Ahsoka - still a Captain at heart. ;) I did like that he got up the nerve to bring up their earlier... "distraction"; and Ahsoka's thought here was wonderful: "That distraction was why she still had the phantom feeling of his mouth on hers and his arms around her waist." Aww... :)

Loved how he told her what 'Cya'rika' meant - just a sweet little touch (also liked how Ahsoka's curiousity gets the better of her even while kissing).

The last line... yeah, Rex, I think she does like it. :)

Wonderful update! I hope to see more soon - and I'm fully prepared to nag- er, "steadily encourage" you until we do. :P

Okay, now to wipe this stupid grin off my face...
Queen chapter 3 . 11/27/2011
It lives! So surprised - and pleased - to see this pop up in my inbox. Even though the new chapter is short, it's still lovely (and hopefully a sign of more things to come).

Just love the introductory lines, with Ahsoka looking at the mountains and wishing she could be so steady. Considering how upside down her life has been, that steadiness has a definite kind of appeal. Their encouragement of each other is also lovely, so supportive. Rex's nervousness before calling her 'cyar'ika' is so sweet, too. Even though you don't have them telling each other they love each other, that seems to be what Rex is trying to express through other words. Just too sweet and perfect!

I do hope you're able to continue this story. Good luck!
sachariah chapter 2 . 9/28/2011
I see this story's on hiatus. I hope to see it come to life, soon - this is an amazing start!

First, I really love the premise of the story. While I enjoy the wartime romance story, a relationship between these two makes most sense in a post-Order 66 scenario, after a most-likely harrowing escape and flight. This story feels plausible, and I love that about it.

I really loved seeing Rex's conflicted feelings, regarding Ahsoka. "Rex by definition wasn't a romantic. He was a soldier. He had been bred and trained to fight droids, kill enemies, and win battles." So true. Rex is duty driven, and not looking for distractions or personal gains. But now he's free, even if it's a bitter sort of liberty. He no longer lives to fight for the Republic, and it's only natural he begins to look for a new 'purpose' in his life. And Ahsoka is looking for an anchor, someone to lean on after the trauma and terror of the order. It's almost like love found them in a round about way. They look to each other for one thing, and find something very different. But so much better. Again, this is /the/ way I see a relationship between these two forming, so I really enjoy this scenario.

Powerful line: " As a clone, he was used to following orders, to giving others what they wanted. But now…"

It's strange, but in a way, the "selfishness" of his actions is a step forward for him. Rex is conditioned to never seek anything for himself, excepting a few primal desires (breathing, eating, etc). He doesn't do things just because he wants to. But now he's learning to be the individual he was never meant to be. He's able to decide that yes, this is what he wants. And now that he's fairly certain Ahsoka is feeling the same way, he takes action.

'Ahsoka bit her lip and looked down, considering. Rex's heart almost stopped beating. Ahsoka looked up at him, her eyes solemn and determined. "No."'

What a way to end it! This is a beautiful story, definitely among the best with these two. Again, I hope you find time to resurrect this tale; in any case, you have a wonderful beginning.

Take care!
