Hot damn, this is a beautiful piece of writing. I love character studies, and this one feels so spot on. Even though he's said since then that he wouldn't want to be human again, I think that's a totally different thing than missing the time that he was.

I agree. Ian's scenes/acting make the show and he is a pleasure to watch. I love the insight you have Damon's mind. Nicely written

The way you wrote the one-shot was very touching. It's quite sad to see Damon struggling so hard just for the woman he loves in which he could never have. Indeed, the vampire side of Damon overcoming his humanity is slowly tearing him apart.

The additional thoughts that you've provided give Damon all the more depth and a side to him that we've never got to see. It's another side of Damon that we see he's been struggling with a lot longer than his feelings for Elena.

It's definitely one of my favorites!

You get it girl! - Damon (Ian) really rocked that scene. How hard it must have been to act the part, but Ian put everything into it (even with walking pheumonia!). What a great actor, and thanks for putting into words what must have been going through Damon's head. Thanks
