Far better than what JTam gave us at the end of S1. The writers always seen to fail to flesh out the deeper/darker emotional side of both Jane and Maura. Something major happens and they just brush it off with humour or sarcasm. It's insulting. Isay it every time and I'll say it again, thank god for the talented authors in this fandom who are never afraid to show the professional and personal depth of our lovely ladies. This is quite possibly the most adorable tag to the pilot I've ever come across. I was surprised at how at ease Maura seemed at physical contact, given her general social awkwardness, but I was glad Jane had a safe place to land. Now I want to go buy our book. :)

This is excellent. I like the discussion of whether it would have been better to shoot Hoyt in the head. I LOVE the "on Friday, Korsak said he'd wear the pink tutu." I'm particularly fond of that way of demonstrating that someone's not listening, and the IMAGE...oh, so great! I like Maura's concern both about returning an autopsied infant to parents as little damaged as possible AND wants to keep Jane from getting any further scars from Hoyt. I like that they fell into familiar drink patterns even after planning on harder drinks, and I LOVE Maura taking Jane home so they don't have to face Jane's apartment. Nice work.
