This story is incredibly well written and it was a fun read!

This fic and the world you created is just AMAZING. I absolutely loved reading this fic, and I liked how you incorporated historical elements without taking away from the story. Loved how realistic this is and how you weren't afraid to show some of the darker elements of war and the characters instead of romanticizing them like so many other stories. I can safely say that this is the absolute BEST WWI fic I've found.

This is one of the rare stories where I can get completely immersed in the world you’ve created and care about the characters like I know them myself - great work.

Thank god this was abandoned. The sentences were structured really well and the flow of the story was very smooth which made this have a novel-like feel (so I understand why a lot of readers enjoyed this), but holy shit I hated the characters. The OCs were likeable enough but the allied personifications were so irritating that I couldn't bring myself to root for them. I was honestly hoping for Germany to just kill them off even though there's obviously no way that would have happened. This fic would have been over the first chapter had Arthur just pulled a super saiyan (and I have no doubt he can actually do that in this fic) from the start. It's a good thing that this story mostly focused on two characters as I'd probably come to hate the others if they were included here as well. Hell, even Canada strangely came off as insufferable piece of shit here. Amazing feat, really. Not many fics made me wish for these characters' deaths as much as this one.

Good lord someone kill this Alfred already.

For someone who has supposedly gone through several wars before despite his youth, Alfred comes off here as a really pathetic novice. I wasn't expecting him to go superman but I wouldn't be surprised if he'll be asking Arthur how to use a gun next. And of course, Arthur will put a hand on his hip and smirk (because everyone needs to know how sassy he is ofc), and call him an imbecile as he sloooooowly explains to the mentally challenged Al the mechanics of firearms as he hits the bull's eye on every target practice while blindfolded...and using his feet. It was emphasized previously how battered Arthur was due to how long the war had been going on (kinda hard to believe in this chap tbh), but considering the disparity of skill level between him and the rest of the allies, it's a wonder why Arthur doesn't just kill off Germany by himself and spare everyone the drama.
It's great that you didn't make Al the annoying overly macho alpha Gary Stu that he's usually made out to be, but it seems Gary manifested himself in Arthur today.

I remember reading this chapter when it first was updated. I sobbed at the end, it touched me so much. 5 years later I have rediscovered this work and cry just as hard. Even though the last chapter never came, I kind of like that the field scene is how it has ended. This work is so good, it makes my heart ache. Everything presented in these 25 chapters are right on with what I envision my headcannons to be, and most likely helped shape them. Whether I look at this as a nostalgic Hetalia fan, or a historical fiction fan, I cannot get over how great it is. The flashbacks always just hit me right in the heart, and leave me misty every time. I was absolutely enthralled reading this when I was 14, it proved to me that fan fiction can be just as beautiful and well written as any book sold in a store; as a 19 year old, it only confirms this notion further. Thank you for writing this with such heart. Words cannot express how much this work, based on one of the silliest shows ever, means to me. Thank you.

I love this work. This was really my first experience with how good fanfiction could be way back when I first discovered fandom was a thing, and I remember eagerly waiting for each new update. I have to ask - is there any chance you have plans to publish the last chapter eventually? I realize it’s been four years, but I would absolutely love to read it and experience the conclusion to the story.

If you told me a few days ago that someone named General Kitty Girl would write the best war story I've ever read, I would've called you crazy. But now? Wow... I can't even begin to express my feelings about this story. It... just... What you've created is so incredible that it would be more than a shame to see it never completed, especially when it's so close to the end.
