Your story is so compelling. I have always been fascinated by the World Wars' history and how something so destructive shaped the world we have today. Thank you for sharing your grandparents' tale.

I don't know what to say. I don't know how to express what an impact stories like yours make. It is important that we never forget what happened. The horror and torture inflicted on innocent victims by the Nazi regime. Thank you, for writing such a real story. It must have been so difficult to recount the torture and injustice your family was forced to endure.

Melissa chapter 1 . 8/20/2018
I remember learning about the holocaust in school, reading Anne Frank’s diary in English class and watching Schindler’s List in history. It’s was equal parts horrifying and intriguing to me. I could never understand that level of hate for other people simply for differences in religion, race or anything else. It still mystifies me when I think on it. I have 4 kids and any time I hear them say they hate someone or something I tell them that word is not allowed in my house because they do not know the true meaning of it, and hopefully never will. They look at me like I’m crazy. As they’ve grown I’ve explained things like the holocaust, slavery, the way native Americans were treated. I explained that those were true examples of hate, to dispise someone so much and think yourself so far above them that their life is of no value more than a tool to accomplish a job, uncared for, easily broken and replaced. There isn’t a word to truly describe atrocities like this in any form at any time in history, the present or the future. I think people of all religions that worship a single God forget that humanity began with just two people and therefore regardless of our diversity now we are all Gods children, all family. And that regardless of your beliefs or actions in life only that God has the right to judge and punish you for them. It would do the entire world good to remember that.

Thank you for this story.

Meikela chapter 1 . 5/1/2016
What a beautifully tragic story. My mom immigrated with her family to America after WWII and also described a similar scene on the ship as they passed the Statue of Liberty. Many, many tears as people realized they could begin again. Thanks for writing this - it's a story that humanity should never forget.

After I read this. I was just speechless I just sat and contemplated on how to respond. I still cannot come up with anything profound enough to address this story. I am not a writer but wish I was to give you the encalades you deserve. You are a brilliant writer and I'm honored to have read such a touching story. I have now completed every one of them and can't wait for more...

Thanks,
V

This is sad and amazing at the same time. I cant put myself in their shoes ofcourse. I am against anything harmly done to any human being. It doesnt matter what race you are or where you are from or what religion you believe.. Human is human. If it were up to me, there would be no borders in the world. We are trying to own a place that was never ours.. Humans are the wort disase that world has had ever... We just destroy and destroy and try to be the only one deserve everything. All these egos.. Damn. Damn human egos and greediness. That's why there were so many wars. There are still so many wars going on.. Maybe some on physical sense but mostly they are in different forms now... I am really sorry for all people died because of Nazis. I am so sorry for your family and their lost.. I really hope world never witness something like that ever again..
