cloudstrifejen chapter 1 . 1/22/2013 I've read the Monkey's Paw in a manga called xxxHolic! It was disturbing and sad in a way. I'm really hooked to this story! Good fic! |
Fortune Zyne chapter 1 . 3/13/2012 Well done! One again the final wish is left ambiguous. |
Redone chapter 1 . 12/18/2010 What a wonderful story. I didn't know The Monkey's Paw before, although the theme is familiar from folk tales. There was one about Husband and Wife where the first wish, after finding the wish-granting item, was to get home, then the second that Husband, angry at Wife, wished a sausage hang on her nose, and then of course with the third wish undid it, so that in the end they had just stupidly wasted the wishes. But the moral of that one was just think what you wish for, with no menacing undertones of Fate in there. Anyways, thanks for sharing the story with us readers. |
LOTRlover chapter 1 . 11/7/2010 Another wonderful adaptation of a classic story ("The Thorn Gate" is one of my favorites)! It was like a birthday gift when I came to FFnet and found this jewel amid the sawdust. Beautifully done. |
leralonde chapter 1 . 11/4/2010 That was really creepy. Just like the old saying, Be careful what you wish for. Thanks for a great tale. |
Sadie Sill - English stories chapter 1 . 11/1/2010 I did recognize the original classic horror tale, but you made it sound as it was written for Tolkien universe. Very good. I loved it. |
Aislynn Crowdaughter chapter 1 . 10/31/2010 Great Horror! Close to the original tale, but perfectly transferred to the Middle Earth Setting. I love the way Vilya interferes, here. Applause! |
Song in the woods chapter 1 . 10/31/2010 I loved that story as a child, and love this one even more! Thanks for writing this and for sharing with us :) |
Jebb chapter 1 . 10/31/2010 Excellent indeed, I had not seen the connection with the other story until the very end this was certainly spooky enough for anyone at Halloween thank you for another great story |
ziggy3 chapter 1 . 10/31/2010 Yes- this is such a wonderful idea and so beautifully executed. Right down to the great irony of Mairlome's wish and Elrond's rejection of his own desire. Brilliant idea, wonderful characterisation - this is going ot be one of my favourite's for many years! |
