I always felt sorry for Edward everytime I read that part as I personally think Bella didn't understand what it did to him whenever she went to meet Jacob, but I also understood why she tried to maintain a friendship with him too...

Still, it was nice to have a small insight into Edward's mind during this, so thanks for that!
