The story is very, very well written ... not to mention very imaginative. But in essence, it is a based on a joke in a documentary shared between two of the leads. It isn't based on the show, apart from the chemistry on screen between the cast. I know it is fiction, but it is stretching credulity a little far. If Tremayne or Nemesis got wind of such a relationship among their operatives, I am sure they would have been split up or sacked as potentially security threats. This also does not account for the mores of the 1960s, but considering this is not too long after the Philby, Burgess and Maclean spy scandal came to light, and Blunt was still to have his cover blown, homosexuality in combination with spying were two things that just didn't go down very well with the authorities, whom were very wary about such goings on. It would only be a matter of time before the relationship was detected by Tremayne. I can't see Tremayne being tolerant of the relationship in a personal sense. Furthermore, from a professional point of view, it might be something he nipped in the bud rather quickly, by splitting the team up. That would have opened yet another can of worms given the powers and the danger of them getting to be common knowledge. But that would be another story. Otherwise, I cannot knock an obvious talent.
