Star Wars came out here in autumn 1977, yes, but in the books Sirius's split from his family must have happened late in 1975 or very early in 1976. He bought his own flat when he was 17, and it sounds like he did so very soon after turning 17, ie in autumn 1976, and prior to that, but after splitting from his family, he had spent holidays, plural, with the Potters. So the latest the split could have happened was just before the Easter holiday in 1976. |

She would be found a foster home until she turned 16 and after that you're pretty much considered adult anyway, although she might need an older sponsor if she wanted to sign a lease or open a bank account. I guess this must be film universe. In the book universe Sirius's split from his parents occurred many months before the underpants incident so if Lily was friendly with Sirius and James when Sirius had his quarrel with his family, she would have been James's friend for months by the time we get to the bullying by the lake. |
