That was really interesting. I never read a Neville/Hermione story before. I quite liked it. The unrequitted love made it really good.

i never really payed any attention at all to really any of the other characters to any great depth. in the books, it really is just about harry and by association ron and hermione as well. this little shot gives excellent insight to what neville would be feeling and seeing. you also show unrequited neville/hermione quite nicely :)

Unrequited for now. I've read ahead and know what can be. In fact, the Hermione/Neville arrangement in Princess Saves the Dragon makes me snicker, esp. when others are trying to guess at the exact relationship.

Can't help but wonder if the whole "a bit scary" part is a deliberate echo of canon where Ron describes Hermionie in the same way.

I read this because it's short and I don't have much time right now and I am glad I did. This was quite enlightening, as well as well-written. I never thought (or had the courage) to get into Neville's head and it is thought-provoking. I intend to read all your stories - though I might be needing a time-turner.

This is a nice, powerful snippet. It reminds me how disappointed I was that Neville and Luna weren't in HBP more. I really wish the Trio had included them more after the battle in the DoM...But no, instead Ron and Hermione were caught up in their drama and Harry was busy stalking Draco. It was like the DA had never happened. :sigh:

Wonderful stuff. It's a lot more powerful than, say, the movie version of the funeral. It's very moving

This is just lovely. To be honest, I wish I hadn't read "Amends" before reading this, because the longing for Hermione is so sweetly and subtly done that it's like a pleasant aftertaste that one just notices a moment after taking a sip. You've captured Neville's strength and vunerability so exquisitely in this that it just sings. Well done indeed.

This made me feel very sorry for both Neville and Luna. They're always the ones who're just on the edge of things even when they're right in the middle of the action, aren't they? I remember reading Luna's comment that the DA was 'almost like having friends' and feeling terribly sorry for her; no matter how close she's got to Harry and the others over the past couple of years she still feels like an outsider, and I suppose the same thing could be said for Neville as well. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading the longer work it's an extract from.

This is well written scene and it gives a nice perspective into yet another character. This is an excellent writing exercise which is entertaining to read. I am really curious as to what method you are using to keep your story, views, characters straight.

One of the things I liked about early Ginny (pre HBP) was her support and protection of Luna. Luna and Neville both personify a part of this book series which I detest, the support of bullies and listing their behavior as "pranks". It is hurtful to find yourself the constant target as both Luna and Neville are. No one should have their belongings stolen or be made to feel as though they have little value. The Hogwarts staff/author in the HP books have much to answer for in their glorification of the bully. Children already have the tendency to be beasts, they need to be trained to be humans not encouraged to be mean. This is another nice standalone story.

Bittersweet, but oh, how Neville!

A tale from Nevilles POV is deeply appreciated.

Luna, as always, is an absolute gem. I really, really wished that by the end of everything, Hermione will grow to love her as the amazing friend and person that she is.
