Another good write. You are good at writing this 'parenting' thing. And a good capture of Sirius too. Sorry, bad choice of word there. I should say I like how you portrayed Sirius. He was feeling jovial at that time and it was good that helped cheer up Harry.

That...that is what should have happened. Damn Rowling for ruining the character of Sirius like she did.

I think that line right there defines the entire Sirius and Harry relationship. Seriously. I can actually see this as being part of the fifth book which is great because I believe that is what you were aiming for here. Another favorite line of mine is when Sirius enters the room and sits quietly beside Harry to say, "Good place to brood right? At least that's what Moony tells me?" And he effectively startles Harry out of his dark thoughts. Such a Sirius thing to do. This will go down as one of my top favorites. XD
