Heartbreaking. And the fact that your Itachi takes it both with dignity and vulnerability only adds to it ;_; It is not easy to strike a balance between the unfeeling, regal persona Itachi portrays, and the very real, deep heartbreak he feels. You do it wonderfully every time :)

Tobi at the end finishes it off perfectly with a claustrophobic sense of doom. Masterfully-done, and thanks for sharing! :)

I loved this. So interesting to read about what happened to Itachi after the massacre. I think there's a multichapter fic in there somewhere, though this is perfect as a oneshot.

This was so gorgeous and..profound, in a way. You described Itachi's thoughts and feelings very well, I thought, as well as the things we know must've happened but never really saw. I don't think I've found a story before that mentioned the time between the Massacre and his joining of the Akatsuki; you did that wonderfully. I liked the new theory on what caused him to "die" coughing blood. And your portrayal of the other characters as well was spot-on.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a oneshot on these lines before. And yeah, I can't help but think that there would be times that Itachi would be feeling suicidal; it comes with the territory.
