In one brief one-shot, you gave her more depth than she's ever had in the entire canon series, or in fan-fiction stories 70-chapters long. Her snark, her deep underlying insecurity, her remorse, her pain, her fierce protectiveness, and her compassion were all written so simply, but so poetically, and so vividly. And as for her trauma, you wrote it so powerfully - one gets choked up just imagining how long she spent with those horrific memories playing in her head. "...she takes her husband's hand, allowing him to help her up—not only off of the dirty floor—but also off of that Rochester street she hadn't even realized she was still lying on until tonight." Two lines, and I'm crying. |
